If you have major male hair loss on either parents side and you're in your 20s you should just start taking finasteride regardless because it will hit you like a brick wall and you won't even realize it before it's too late. It takes months for the medication to begin working so by the time you notice it, it can be too large for some people.

I wish I would've started taking it at 21/22. I would still have a completely full head of hair. Instead I started taking it at 24 and it stabilized, but only after the damage was done. Now I'm thinking I bought as well shave it all off anyway because I didn't save enough of it for it to matter.
