The recovery isn't that painful. First three days you will be quite sore but you will have painkillers.

Hardest thing about recovery for me was the limited choice of what I could eat. You will lose weight. You will get fed up because you have to drink all your meals for the first month or so then slowly learn how to chew soft food and eventually work your way up to normal solid food.

Swelling is a bitch and takes a good six months to completely go. It was very frustrating when waiting for the residual swelling to go so I could see my final results. I looked a little bit puffy for around six months.

I hope I don't sound too negative about this kind of operation because I am glad I got it done but I think it's important to highlight the reality that it isn't some miracle surgery that it's made out to be sometimes.
