I'm doing a masters in Neuroscience... Not sure if this makes it /fa/ but a career in research gives you pretty limitless opportunities to travel. Infact i'm going to be spending two years in Japan as part of my PhD

Well my current degree is meant to be a bit of a feeder to a PhD so it's largely treated as a one year taster. I work in an offices with 5 different lab groups and all the Post-docs are constantly going away. I'm based in the UK and people are always going to Japan, America, Singapore and Germany. You're pretty marketable in science too considering pretty much all discoveries are published in english so English is the general language of research

The hours are pretty bad though. I get in at 8:30 am and I rarely finish my experiments until 7pm. And the pay isn't good either until can progress from being a post-doc (can take up to 10 years). But I love what I do which is more important than anything I feel

Not true, many high end corporate bankers I know got a joke fine arts degree from decent university then got a MS in finance and now make several hundred thousand per year. Finance is a good degree, best of business with accounting.

I did my PhD in the UK in science and got to travel to the US, Japan, Germany and Italy during it. Now I'm a post-doc in Japan and have travelled from there to Italy, Australia, South Korea and China. Science PhDs and post-docs really do let you travel a lot if you choose the right group to do it in. On the other hand, a friend of mine did his at CERN and said that he never got to travel because his boss would always go and present the results at conferences. So it really is important to choose a group that will allow you to travel.

People in actual finance roles are slowly but clearly becoming disillusioned with the economics field in general. It's more and more common to hear that professional economists and economics professors are useless fucking idiots in general. Do anything else if you want to be good at your job since I assume you have no interest in actually being an economist and just want to work in business.

But being a useless idiot is pretty /fa/ on the other hand.

This is actually true. My favorite economics writer go his degree studying music then studied economics as a graduate student before working at Chase Manhattan. He has a much different perspective than other economists and is one of the most well read in the field.

>>12124028
no, because you will have to be very lucky (and talented) to even create the things you desire to design.
I know someone who is an architect who designs big manors/countryhouses/villa's and its like winning the lotery
You'll probally end up at some shitty workplace where you design a fucking shed or go into a other modeling type of work.

this goes for almost every "effay" job/study.
take a realistic study, and do that other shit in your spare time.

It involves a lot of reading, and a lot of independent work (essays and reading). People on the course tend to be laid back and care free.

"Laid back and care free" is codeword for dirty, unkempt left-wing hippies whose life will amount to nothing besides being useful idiots for causes they do not understand.

It's not some place you can be /fa/, generally speaking.
