I personally love harringtons but they are totally different jackets, the Alpha MA-1 is made of nylon and has filling, the Merc Harrington is made of 60/40 cotton/poly with a light cotton lining. It's really up to you whether you want a jacket for spring & early fall (harrington) or late fall and winter (MA-1)
