What is really the problem with Hilfiger and VV? I dont own any VV stuff, but some articles look good. On Hilfiger I have more experience, atm I own a polo shirt and a belt and they are giving good result, they are 2 years old each, the polo shirt hasnt lost color with washings and the belt is fine, just the area of the holes I use is a bit damaged after being used nearly everyday for 2 years, and the metal of the belt is not rusty yet, for 40€ that it was I dont see it as a bad investment, it will probably last me much more

What are some good winter boots that fit into the Ivy style, BESIDES Bean Boots?

The best is to search at online shops of common prep/ivy brands and see what boots they offer. Usually is Chukka/Desert boots, chelsea boots, brogue boots, jodhpur boots, wallabie boots and duck/bean boots. Aditionally, you could go for wellington boots if you live in rural areas.

Country brogue boots are good, particularly if you typically wear shirts/jumpers/relatively smart casual wear. Trickers Stow, Grenson, etc do good ones

Wellingtons are good for actual outdoors wear in fields and whatnot - apparently Hunter's quality has declined in recent years, and the preferred boot is Le Chameau

I know what you mean, but personally I wear it fairly often

I find black or charcoal is the best way to tonally modernise an outfit that might otherwise be considered larpy

E.g.an outfit of brogues, cream chinos, light blue ocbd, red shetland - a bit too 'obvious' in colour. Black or charcoal for the jumper, instead, tones it down, gives it a modern edge, of a sort (apologies if not conveying this well). Something of the /fa/ equivalent of MVOTC

Black overcoats, macs, jumpers, jeans etc can, if worn with the right things, convey an urbanity which tempers the classicism of prep

Prep is a style not a uniform. The style involves:
>Clean cut grooming
>A roomy, more traditional fit that emphasizes draping fabric (think sack jackets and twill/wool trousers of a mid-rise and generous unlined button down collars)
>Collegiate sporty type clothing mixed with what would be considered now to be formal and semi formal-wear
>Natural fabrics

I think we fit quite nicely into the /trad/ part of the thread - it's perfect as long as people specify what they're going for or whatever. The dealer boots and wellies conversation above is a fine example, like you say, big no from one side of the pond but two thumbs up from here.

>>13912027

FYI, I've spent my whole life living and working in the British countryside and I can tell you that Bludstones have and always will have a welt that makes them look silly. Other options are available. Apart from that dealer boots and brogues are staple country footwear.

Blundstones moved manufacturing offshore despite it being completely feasible to continue manufacturing in Australia (as demonstrated by Rossi's health; and Redback, who don't even bother with making fashion boots), and continue to brand their products with "Tasmania, Australia" like the slimy dog cunts that they are.

Rossi have a solid range with some interesting options, such as a flat soled version of their workboot, but really the first rate manufacturer is RM WillIams, they not only have their classic chisel-toe Craftsman chelsea boot but the Tambo which has a broader, rounder, more classic Australian workboot shape.

Basically, buying Blundstones is buying style over substance, completely antithetical to British country style, just look at Hunter's fall from grace.

Many Brits about? I've been thinking about getting a shooting vest or waistcoat for field work for some time now, though it's been on the backburner while I've been working in the tropics. Now I've got some cool climate stuff coming up in the next few months I'll be looking again. I got recommended Musto, but the lack of flaps on the cartridge pockets was a major issue for me. I'd prefer to be able to secure the pockets. What are some other reputable brands?

race means a lot, but the idea that someones race determines their ability to sew is ridiculous. the people that sew for a living are bottom of the barrel here in USA what makes you think theyd be experts in anything

Your point is all but useless, because you're comparing $500 boots (RM William) to $100 boots (Blundstone). Are you really all that surprised the extra $400 buys you a slightly better boot? If anything you're the one buying style over substance, since there's no way that you're getting your money's worth in this retarded hypothetical.

Either boot will last you a lifetime of posting on 4chan. But if we pretend you actually go outside, the Blundstones might last you 10 years--based on experience with the pair I've worn hiking the past 5 years, that still have tons of life left. At that point your RM Williams will have to last 50 years to even compare, let alone come out ahead. And let's be honest, the chances that your style will not evolve and grow out of some boots you bought when you were 19 are pretty low.

Is there a footwear manufacturer that hasn't seen a massive drop in quality when shifting production offshore? It makes sense, you have a workforce which is experienced, dominated by long term employees, usually with good working pay and conditions for their class and area which are often lower socioeconomic status with limited opportunities; compared to overseas employees who only at best will be experienced but still without deep knowledge of the manufacture of the specific products they are making and who will be jumping between orders for many different manufacturers, and a move which is often accompanied by other economy drives and supplier changes. This is more meme than true, youre just repeating shit youve heard the older kids say. Plenty of products have been successfully produced off shore with no drop in quality.

Besides its no secret that US skilled labor has declined while production in places like china has improved and surpassed that of usa in many industries. Keep spending 10x more for identical domestic products if you want, youre just hurting your own pocketbook. The only viable argument against buying foreign goods is the environmental one. Did that sound like a zinger in your head? If the correlation is near enough to 1:1 who gives a fuck if the cause is. I don't care if it's antiglobalists in spaceships threatening workers that causes QC issues, when boots go offshore they almost inevitably get shit. Hunter is making news like Blundstones 10 years ago, tredsetters having long moved on to Le Chameaus. Thots and poseurs still buy Hunters, just as they buy Blundstones. I don't have need of US style workboots but the same seems to apply to Timberlands from what I read, Thomas Cooks are another Australian example whose quality has diminished greatly.

>> No.13926470

This is literally globalist propaganda. Even if the labor is drawing the lower skilled in your country, the people doing the labor are always going to be living under higher safety standards and with way way better work benefits (like actual holidays). If you're continuing to produce in the same place for a long time you benefit from continued expertise. Also it's important from a patriotic pov to be giving work to the lower skilled in your society rather than just letting them to rot and giving the work to some random people from another country.

Here in the UK you can clearly see a drop in quality when manufacturing is moved abroad in so many brands. Grenson for example when they moved their manufacturing to India. I always buy made in UK clothing when I can.

closest thing we have to prep as a subculture is corpsballen which are student societies very close to american frat bros. they wear ralph shirts untucked with jeans, but they have to suit up each weekend for parties.
once in a while i'll see someone dressed in khakis with a tucked in white shirt, it is not unheard of, but not that common either.

he's a bit of a trendhopper fitwise (going from baggy to slim to baggy with the trends) but most of the time he dresses pretty decent. but he has wide ass hips and narrow shoulders, looks weird sometimes.

>> No.13934979

>>13934970
Yeah his build is very awkward. I like that he has his personal, recognisable style, rather than wearing cookie cutter prep clothes.
Nothing wrong with following trends btw. Even trad fashion has movement, although very slow. If I look at old dress shirts in my dad's closet from the 80's, things have definitely changed (for the better imo).

Jort looks like a homosexual though. I wouldn't consider him to have a good sense of style altough its commendable to have one in a country as badly dressed as ours.

What is actually on the tie? Are they pheasants or something? Like another Anon said, i'd probably go for a different size. This would make a tremendous shooting suit if it was cut to allow it. Love the colour.

Thanks.

It's a shame that I can't seem to find any natural coloured Jamieson's sweaters, I've bought some dark colours; black, charcoal, and navy from End but can't find any other stockists. I have no idea if it's possible to request somewhere.

These undyed sweaters seem really nice and satisfy my autistic need to have a 'raw' garment but I'm not sure if I should just try to stop that autism.

Thoughts on the cardigan?

An average fit at work, less prep than usual I guess.
I'm trying to go as "basic" but well fitted as possible as my work aesthetic.

I don’t dress prep but came to take some inspo since really I own poor quality items.

So I tried an oxford+shetland crew but with sweatpants and somehow it still looks very good as a fit whether tucked or not, even with sweatpants, I can’t really believe how well it worked.

Absolutely yes. It's not the *most* traditional physique which is to be fit but not bulky, but it's a hell of a lot better than e.g. being fat, or being a sticklike faggot. You could go for a more "rugby/college" type of air or if you have the money for it, a tailored or possibly MTM English trad style. There was a prewar English cut of having very generous jackets over close waistcoats that would probably work well for you. Avoid slim fit anything, which looks retarded to begin with but double retarded on a swole guy.

Yeah the coat is not good with the jeans, velvet collar + worn denim clashes terribly. You can tell he was deliberately posed for this shot for that reason, carrying the coat over his shoulder where it just adds a matching color to the rest of the fit.
