Men don't have many haircut options. It's either that, buzzcut, or just medium length hair.
An undercut or whatever you want to call it has certain edge with the shaved part and adds length to your face, it also looks 'cool' in pictures. This being said not everyone looks better with that haircut but it got trendy like 5 years ago and since then almost everyone has it

I have it because it's an easy diy haircut that looks more civilised than a simple buzz. Probably the same reason why it was so popular 100 years ago. Decadent times are ending, hard times are approaching.

a curling iron, blow dryer and a bit of hairspray can do a lot for naturally straight or dull long hair without spending much money. And you can trim and layer hair yourself with scissors and some hair ties.

The undercut fade is the classy mans hair cut. If done correctly you stand out against the crowd of men, women LOVE it and it shows you have respect for yourself.

Don't let anyone make you believe its not a "cool" haircut or its "retarted", these are the men that either don't have the hair to pull it off or are coping hard in another way.

It's a very pleasing haircut when done right. I don't like it when the top is overly groomed and gelled.

It also looks good for a significant time when your hair is receding. Then, because half your head is shaved anyway, you are already warmed up to shaving the rest.
