Bunch of attention whore faggots fighting over who gets their obsolete jewellery of choice as the OP picture for a few days, fighting lile children and shitting up the board.

Shinola has painted themselves into a “luxury” corner.
Basically, the brothers that started Fossil had a falling out and one left. He did some market testing and determined that Detroit being a bombed out shithole would make for a good marketing scheme.
So he starts this company and pats himself on the back for giving black people jobs. Meanwhile, native Detroiters are already sick and fucking tired of people moving in from out of nowhere to help with the “renaissance” and Shinola’s heavy handed/borderline racist marketing didn’t land well.
They’re stuck now because they’ve painted themselves as super upscale and don’t want to tarnish that by lowering the prices on the watches.
Cost on a Shinola watch, with labor, is about $70.
The company is bleeding money because they’ve stretched themselves way too thin, trying to be design heroes (the latest headphone flop being the prime example)
Everyone in the city considers them to be that obnoxious guy at the house party that won’t stop changing the music and asking for weed. It’s a huge eye roll. They waltzed in here from Texas and pretended they gave a fuck about the city and people can tell. Pure cringe.
I repeat: cost on a Shinola watch is about $70

You're using continuous lights? Those are kind of a pain since you have to keep the shutter speed fast so the seconds hand doesn't blur, unless you hack the watch but then the crown looks ugly sticking out unless you do some elaborate photoshopping to put the crown back in its normal position.

Get a flash or two instead. They can be cheap, it doesn't matter. They don't have to be very powerful at all since you're working so up close with such a small subject.

It's definitely a big pain in the ass, but I think it's a nice challenge for me since I almost never do studio photography where you have to control everything.

Is the Precista PRS-82 cool? I think it looks quite nice as a unique-ish submariner alternative that has some actual history behind it.

I have heard the cases are made in china and the movements are nothing special but for a $500 diver with an ETA movement and a screw down crown it doesn't seem awful. Am I missing a huge flaw?

There was of course the occasional Rolex or Archie shill, but the threads were generally enjoyable. Personally I think it's two or three samefags who've been shitting up the threads over the last half year or so.

Yeah that's fantasic, since the bulb on my a914 is broken I've never seen one with the light on.
And thanks for the tip, a lot of people are fucking awful and don't bother to check what model they have and they'll just call it "80's Digital Watch" and then any other watch clickbait words like seiko tudor and rolex

>> No.14010748

>>14010740
a914 uses a 3 volt battery so you can replace the bulb with a led if you are up for it.

Right, but that wasn't the only problem.
For some reason the watch will freeze up and different parts of the lcd will flicker. Sometimes it stops on it's own and other times I have to tap it to bring it back.
I don't know what is causing it exactly because I don't have my tools right now, but I suspect it may have to do with the battery.

I unironically love my aq 230.
Got the silver one with white dial and numbers.
I love casios helvetica numbers print and the symmetry and proportions of this small watch are just so pleasant to look at.

I wish modern watches would implement that sliding clasp design in some way. Should be possible even with thicker bands.
And no, i don't mean diving extensions. I mean bands where you dont have to get pins out to adjust them. Screwed links are nice but heavier and more expensive, so a sliding clasp would should be a thing on more watches.

Well, PP is a jewish led company that makes their watches super duper special with marketing kikery, like long waiting lists and for some models you need to proof to them that you have a honest business and really deserve to wear the watch.

I can't afford PP and if i could, i would feel like being their bitch and paying money for it. No thanks, jews.
>>14011982
Yep, basically any paid reviewer is nowadays just an advertising tool. Reviewers of any kind should only be used as a starting point and then one should skim the forums for more in depth stuff. People tend to be more honest there and the ones that hate the brand often have the interesting stuff to tell.

Sekonda was a brand that used to import various Soviet watches under their own name. The strap isn't original, it was on a shitty expanding bracelet when I bought it. The original would have been a pretty cool steel or gold bracelet like a very fine milanese mesh, like left & centre in this pic.

Almost had a rage attack. The stepper rotor flew off the tweezer, and since it's magnetic I feared it got stuck to something and I'll never see it again. A new one is $36 on Borel. Also the watch is my own King Quartz, so no chance of finding a reasonably priced donor either.

Luckily after an hour of scanning the floor I found it stuck to the cleaning basket. Pic.

Comparing watches and cars is dumb.
In the car world it would mean like 50s tech.
Imagine people driving around with old ass cars without any high tech systems such as abs or even fuel injectors while simultaneously feeling superior to people who drive modern cars.
