So, I decided I will try this retro shaving thing. Straight razor seemed like too much of an investment for a beginner, so I bought a shavette. Youtube tutorials all told me it will be a nice and easy shave, much closer and with more control than with a safety razor.

I ended up cutting my face multiple times and barely being able to scratch the stubble out of my chin and sides of my neck. Fuck this shit. I'm going back to normal stainless steel safety razor.

What are your experiences?

I never noticed too much of a difference betweed DE razors and the lunacy that is a straight razor and its variants. What put me off is that said shaving equipment needs regular maintenance (professional grinding) in order to shave well. But quite honestly, I did not see too much of a difference between a DE shave and a 5-blade ezypzy razors except that the DE razor saves me mad money.

would love to find alternative shaving methods to giving money to gilette/p&g and other megacorps but it seems like what you described is the only alternative
and I certainly don't intend on wasting my time to give myself facial scars more than I already do from acne.
shame it didn't work.

not him but i'll always call out obvious brand shilling or ask what makes it good
marketers get exposed pretty quickly when you ask them to substantiate why certain products are better than others.

it was still probably around $65 for all those at least right? I stopped buying those after I had been shaving for about a year regularly when I realized I could get as nice of a shave for a quarter of the price.

If you're a teenager just learning how to shave that's fine because it's borderline difficult to cut yourself with it but it's wayyy to expensive for something disposable.

My old metallic safety razors would get rusty, so I specifically got a plastic one. I like it.
