Most cases are the same, it's the hands and indices that look noticably better the more expensive a watch gets. On a cheap shitter they tend to have rough edges and look like crap in direct light, on a more expensive watch the parts tend to be shaped with a curve rather than be dead flat, and the edges sharp so they look good. Obviously movement finishing steps up hugely with price.

Go walk into a store and ask to see a couple of watches, most watches tend to look like shit in a jeweller's due to the gay lights they use everywhere, it makes shitters look extra shit.

Dealers have a margins to play with. You buy them en masse for 2/3 of the retail price as a dealer. If they don't sell, you can go as low 2/3 of the retail price (plus taxes) and don't make a loss. However the swatch group may eventually cut ties with you for cheapening the brand this way.

Orient Kamasu's a solid step up from the Ray II/Mako II for about $250. Same movement, but with a flat sapphire crystal and generally better feel and finishing with the bezel and case. It comes with well-done dark green and maroon dials in addition to the usual blue and black options if you want something different. 41.8mm case size, but in my experience wears a lot more like a 40mm.

I'm somewhat tempted to get one of these fossil hybrid hr watches.
