It doesn't take many 50k-100k watches to reach millions in turnover. Their profit margins aren't that high either but then they have a lot of brick&mortar presence in some very expensive retail locations.

>the way a watch makes your pp feel > everything else

Change my mind? You might try to rationalize one watch over another, but at the end of the day, personal appreciation and application should be first and foremost.
Mudman, Stowa Marine, terrorist casio, DA37, 556, Polerouter, Mickey, slavshit, mememaster, san martin, japshit folded over a zillion times to get a smooth sweeping seconds, vintage.

Stop giving a shit and enjoy things you enjoy and can afford for you own sake.

They have brushed case options. The SE models generally look much nicer. I have a 170 with a brushed case, applied indices on the dial, and sst crown and bezel with insert, it's not an SE model but it feels like and is priced like one. It doesn't look like a toy like so many other vostoks. The 170 and 960 ranges are weird because they're in the classic line but feel much more like the SE line.

yeah, like that is proper.
looks like whatever case diameter these are is about the maximum that fits you right, so reference that if you start buying more. viewed straight on, some strap should be visible on either end. if the lugs hang over your wrist and all you see of the strap is the edge where it attaches to the lugs, the watch is too big. if the whole watch hangs over, you done goofed big time. the mondaine above on the freckled girl arm is too big for her slightly.
yours is borderline but on the good side of it imo.

Honestly, availability is the problem with most of the watches I'm really looking for. Even the ones that fly for high prices are far from being impossible to afford. It's just a matter of them showing up on the market and not being in terrible condition.
>Ball Trainmaster Galaxy Express
>Maison Celadon Celestial Silk
These were just so limited, it's rare to see them hit the market.
>Lip Mach2000 automatic
Good luck finding ones with its rubber pushers not disintegrating.
>Lip Parking watch
Again, not a very common piece, I've only seen it show up once or twice and not in good condition either time.

that's a nice looking watch, anon.
my spider sense says the mesh would look good but you never really know until it's on the wrist. someone needs to invent a watch/strap deepfake video maker.
blue silicone seems ok but tapered with fake stitches looks weird. I'd do it with lug width all the way around and just plain, or no fake stitches anyway, if I was going to go that route.

What kind of watch should I get for my engagement? I have tiny 6" wrists but I can handle up to about 47mm Lug Length. I think I want something I can pretty much wear anywhere stylistically and functionally. I've been looking at a lot of Sinns specifically the 104 and the 556 line. Maybe any of the smaller Tudors do something for you. If not I'd check out Nomos, they do cool watches in good form factors IF you choose one that doesn't extend the lugs too far.
If this is supposed to be your one and done watch you might also want to check out the 36mm Omega Seamaster.

Sinn 104, 556, Damasko DS30, I kinda want a GMT but they're all either massively thick or too wide. Wristlets together strong.
If sinn makes a 556 but with the 104 hands then that would be it, but alas. Also, if you don't mind secondhand watches then you can probably get a decent condition seamaster 300 for cheap on chrono24. Though if its for your engagement then I'd advise against it.

You are only the bottom feeder that the watch flippers are speculationg on. Watches have a super slow return on investment. And if you wear it, you will lower the price. Every little scuff and scratch will be used to lower the price.

I was already really interested in clocks and had been for a while. For the longest time though, it seemed that watches was mostly a lot of samey pieces flying for ridiculous prices because "lol luxury", justified with overengineering everything. The luxury segment of the market in particular I didn't get, it seemed to be either gaudy or so understated it's hard to justify paying over 10 grands for something that is both mechanically basic and has no unique design features.
Digging into the vintage market for clocks is something I was used to but looking at the vintage watch market made me realize just how much variety exists in there too. What helped the most was looking into eastern/cold-war pieces. At first I was just interested in soviet chess clocks which were typically east-german, and that exposed me to how different the russian makers were.
I've started to appreciate the variations in watches a lot more and I am still discovering a lot.
I still have absolutely no interest in the luxury brands though, digging into watches has sort of confirmed what I already believed, it just showed be that there is a lot going on between the Swatch level and the 10k+ level.

Yeah I'm a little similar in that soviet watches brought me to the point where I now own and enjoy some pretty expensive watches.
For me it was looking at soviet copyright law. Or it's lack off.
Basically reading about motorbikes and the how the Soviets copied the BMW R71 by reverse engineering it to make the Ural Dnepr 72. This followed to watches, were upon learning that the swiss had made a 'waterproof' watch tried to reverse engineer it but found it to expensive so basically double-cased watches to a much higher water rating much to the displeasure of the sneaky swiss capitalists.
The history, engineering and design or even super humble mechanical is just really fascinating to me. But fuck me it's cost me a lot of money goddamn

Yes, when paired with the right watch. Bunds look great with chronographs and fliegers, not so much with dress and dive watches
>should strap buckles match the watch color?
They should at the very least compliment the colors on your watch. Black doesn't always have to go with black, but putting a black dial watch with a brightly colored or pastel strap would look out of place; but pairing a black dialed watch with warm tan or reddish leather looks good because they compliment each other

I gave my rant on bund straps a few threads ago, don't know if I'm saying the same thing to the same person.
But regardless, bund straps only look good on a vintage chronos in the smaller size, keep in mind most of those iconic pics of people wearing a bund strap, they are mostly wearing a chrono in the 34-37mm range.
Since vintage chronos are much smaller and usually much thinner, gives you the wiggle room to add a piece of leather underneath the watch.
Most modern watches are too thick and the lug to lug + extra diameter makes incredibly stupid wearing it with a bund strap.
