Rap music is awful nowadays. Rap music has literally never been good in my lifetime. When it really got commercialized, right around Biggie Smalls and 2pacs deaths. Then Eazy died. Then it just turned into this fight over who would take their places. Then you have all these faggots like Ice cube, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, ect.. These guys just wanted to make money bottom line. Their music was shit and they didnt care as long as some moron would buy it. Now you have more and more people just continuing their legacy making meaningless, repetitive, and generic music. Oh well its not like rap and hip hop was ever that great.

I feel like he is preaching this shit because he believes in that ideology, but it's too late for him to live that way.

I am sure black slaves sat there, preaching that being a slave is not the way to live, but they couldn't just free themselves. Is it, though? He could walk today and be freer than almost everyone on the planet.

He is, and I don't blame him, would make the same choice, remaining where he is so he can keep having a cultural impact. He probably has to compromise as little as Kubrick; the biggest imposition on him is probably the paparazzi, and otherwise his personal life is his.

Doing what he did with Yeezus - no cover, no radio campaign, all the promotion was art in its own right produced by DONDA - is about as independent and DIY as you can get doing stuff on that scale. I wouldn't be surprised if next time around he just bucks everything and drops the album on Bandcamp.

For starters it has about 9 of his best songs on it. You will never find similar production on a hip hop album ever again. He succesfully made a rap album that incorporated the best elements of pop music and compressed and brick walled the shit out of it to make it sound truly unique.

>> No.6889700

Rap musicians are basically conduits of moral and spiritual degeneracy. Since when were Bentley cars and Nike trainers something that you would rap about? These are products made by incredibly wealthy white families who don't understand or give a flying fuck about you. It's as if every rap is based around some kind of product (like a private jet plane, gold, a rolls royce phantom, etc...) and it's not just monotonous but actually damaging fragile young minds. Music used to be about self-expression and creativity, but it's like rap music got hijacked around the time I was in high school (2003-ish) and the forefront has just become more and more degenerative to the point where niggas are rappin about the clothes they are wearing, namedropping high-fashion shit that a lot of kids could never afford in their lifetimes.

I don't think it has anything to do with advertising these products (it's not like any 12-20 year olds could ever afford a RR Phantom lol) but more like promoting spiritual degeneracy. Now it seems so painfully obvious that it's not about the music now that it almost becomes a sort of self-aware parody with peeps like Lil Wayne, Drake and Lil B.

Am I going crazy or does anyone else have similar ideas?

I hate how everyone treats Kanye like some mad scientist genius. look at the full production/writing credits for his albums. look how many people are involved in making these songs. Kanye is more of a character than a producer (and hardly a rapper). he's the guy who recorded his first hit with his jaw wired shut because he got in a bad car accident. he's the guy who stole the mic from taylor swift. he's the guy who turned dark after his mother died (from plastic surgery she was not recommended to get). he's the guy that can't get through a few minute interview with matt lauer without acting like a babby, but talks to kris jenner for an hour about his undying love for kim (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXczHd4XvwU).). he's the guy who said george bush doesn't care about black people on national tv and wears hi fashunz, so edgy. he's a fucking hype machine and a decent producer.

people need to realize this and stop treating him like a god of a musician.

okay, see, what i don't get, is that even if being gay comes from nurture rather than nature, why does that make it any less of a legitimate way to be?

why consider it corruption and confusion?

what about other traits that come about by your upbringing, like being an introvert vs an extrovert? how can you say that one of those is the right way to be? and can you really really call into question the legitimacy they way a person is? "it's not that you don't like parties, you're just messed up!" does that really make any sense?

and i mean then there's the fact that homosexuality is repeatedly observed in nature, which is really an entirely different crate of apples.

You are on a fashion board; expecting us to get on board with your "fuck liking clothes" basic bitch shit is hilarious.

Look, I'm left wing, I'm an activist, I've participated in campaigns against sweat shop labor, and you know why? Because I want to build a social order where people aren't being held back by logistics, domination, and atavistic attitudes. Held back from what? Both having a meaningful ability and context to create themselves and good, "solid objects" (to quote Orwell) to work and set design their lives with.

We're not there yet, and to expect people to be detached from the world and from material pleasures for their short lives, for some self-satisfied notion of purity, is not only sadistic/masochistic and unrealistic but counterproductive. And to rag on someone who's trying to make his way towards that, doing well, and trying to contribute and better the world around him with the tools available is nothing more than jealous resentment shit and Monday morning quarterback shit.

>>6889882

And what's wrong with doing unnatural shit? The human body was not designed to stay in one place for hours and hours, yoked to a giant network by eyeballs and fingers, for the grand evolutionary purpose of posting on an fashion subforum of an anime board, and yet... here you are, a crude cyborg, on 4chan.

Also, if you think gays are all "feminized," go to your next local pride parade and follow the smell of leather.

>>6889905

Well, they're not. "Gay" is a social coding.

As far as whether people are born exclusively attracted to one sex or another, IDK IDC, but an overwhelming amount of contemporary and historical empirical evidence suggests that it's extremely mutable by environment.

BUT it's a nice argument to get conservative religious nutjobs who say being gay is going against god's amazing plan and don't think too hard about ethics to shut up for a bit.

The fuck you talkin bout nigguh. Clothes are great, why the else would I be on here? I'm talking about fashion as if it were music, as if it has been diverted away from its pure artistic form into the realms of materialistic hedonism. Fashion doesn't have to be made by big corporations and cost loads of dollar yo, but that's the kinda shit that he used to promote. Imma listen to his new album now cos what I've heard about him sounds really promising; and even if his music is terrible, at least it might carry a great message.

I wasn't trying to make a definitive statement one way or the other, I was just trying to make the point that even if sexuality is nurture and not nature, it doesn't make it any less valid, because arguably most of who we are comes from our experiences during our formative years.

I personally don't give a a shit, i'm gay and i've never tried to do the math as to why, because it doesn't change the fact of who i am.

>>6890107
>>6890040
you guys totally miss the point of that argument.
It has nothing to do with, "because animals do it its okay"
Its a counter to the people who try and argue that being gay is a cultural trend, and that being gay cannot be a natural legitimate thing because it doesn't promote procreation and perpetuations of the species.
Because, you know, animals have no culture to be influenced by, and they don't have the capacity to consciously go against instinct, so therefore, when one penguin but fucks another, they aren't thinking "i know im supposed to jizz on some eggs, but fuck that shit", they are following instinct, which essentially means their homosexual urges are hardwired.

>materialistic hedonism

In other words, people being humans who like dopamine and stuff. Yawn. Go complain about people doing that crazy shit where they like some people more than others.

Pleasure is not enough but it's not a problem; call it necessary but not sufficient. And if you think that's all that's going on when Yeezy drops the word "Maybach" you're not paying attention to *any* of the context.

>Fashion doesn't have to be made by big corporations and cost loads of dollar yo

Under capitalism, a lot of it does, at least being produced new. Blame old dead European burghers, not Kanye or any of the designers he likes.

Could we conceivably create an economic system where clothing made by skilled artisans out of fine materials is considerably more accessible? Yes, and we should try. (Don't ask me what it'd look like.) But doesn't mean people should just stop wearing good clothing, or that they have to act like wealth and brands don't exist.

Whatever, man. If fucking guys makes you happy then by all means do it as much as you want. The appropriate counter-argument is that things do not have to be natural to be legitimate, that things do not have to be instrumental to perpetuating the species (or to any other practical end) to be legitimate, and "well, what about the infertile?"
