I‘m 18 and rarely think about living healthy, but this has just come to my mind: Jared Letho is 46 years old and looks like he‘s 20. He apparently doesn‘t drink and eats vegan. I know in this photo he probably wears tons of make-up, but it got me thinking: Can this californian fad really be without merit if that guy looks like this?

of course veganism is healthy. People who eat meat and eggs and dairy may be getting dairy and protein, but its protein and cholesterol isn much too high amounts. With a plant based diet, you are getting more vitamins than a standard meat eater would, and you're getting them in healthier amounts. Your body will work off what you put into it. Put in healthy variety of fiberous plant-based foods, and your body will definitely thank you. As for skin care, wearing sun screen every day is probably the best thing to keep you young. sun damage is what causes aging.

There is nothing wrong with anything in moderation.

That being said, it's all about portion control. People just plain eat too much.

If you really want to be healthier (and lose weight fatties) incorporate a juicer into your lifestyle. Juice up leafy green vegetables with a little fruit for taste and make that one of your daily meals. The micro-nutrients from this type of meal are really easy on your body, and will give you lots of energy.

Also, water. Drink a lot of water. It's harder in practice that in theory though. Avoid booze and drugs and cigs. Cigs are a vasculatory (sp?) restrictor and will age you prematurely.

42 here, still get carded when I try to buy a beer.

Take care of yourselves.

My skin cleared up when I went plant based

Literally used to have pizza face. I wish I would have went vegan in high school when I had shit skin. I literally used to think eating eggs and yogurt as part of my daily food intake was healthy, but that shit that I thought was healthy was part of the reason why my skin was so bad. Those along with cheese. Just cutting out dairy helped a lot which I did at first. Then once I went full plant based vegan, no processed bullshit or oily foods like french fries etc, my skin literally got smoother than a newborn baby. Might be a fad for some, but I don't see myself eating meat or dairy ever again.

I told them how i cleared my skin, and if they don't want to listen, then fuck them

you have to go plant based/mostly raw then. Id say 80% fruits and veggies. This will hydrate the skin. Foods such as rice, pasta, breads, etc might be vegan but they also dehydrate the body.

For me my skin cleared up by just cutting out dairy. Didn't need to cut out meat, but I did. However one of my friends who I helped skin clear up, I had him go on 80% fruit diet and his skin cleared up. Got worst at first due to detoxing, but after the first few weeks it started getting better once all the pus beneath his skin was out. His skin is actually better than mine now. I still have a few deep acne scars on my cheek I'm trying to get rid of (might get surgery soon) but his complexion is as clear as mine. All of our blackheads are gone too. Used to have a shit ton on my nose.

It's not like a specific set of dietary restrictions will heal your shitty eating habits. Take in less useless carbs and sugars, eat protein, vegetables, and fibers.

I've found that I'm much healthier after cutting out meats, but that is me and my preference. You don't have to do any specific thing besides watch your portions and don't eat fucking garbage all the time.

After eating a healthier vegan diet (lots of smoothies, legumes, rice, and actually taking my supplements), I lost about 15lb and my acne has gotten a lot better.

Now also keep in mind I am a competitive runner, so exercising everyday, sometimes twice a day definitely helps me stay healthy.

I used to look a bit older, bloated face a little from sugar/salt/sodium. I eat clean now, I do eat meat, not processed junk, chicken breast, lean ground beef. I work out an hour a day 5 times a week.

Skin is great, face is slender and good, body is lean and athletic. I do drink alcohol once per week.

I would say the main factor is genes, if you look 30 at 18 you're pretty much fucked. Diet plays a big role too though

Vices and sun exposure will age you the quickest, so don't drink, smoke, or do (most) drugs
Don't tan, and for sure never get sunburned
Take vitamin D and fish oil (+B12 if you're vegan)
Don't eat junk food, and minimize refined/highly processed foods as much as possible
The food you eat should mostly look the same on your plate as it did when it come off the tree/bush/out of the ground, steaming is the healthiest way to cook food
Try to eat mainly fresh, organic food
Get a full night's sleep (~8 hours)
Avoid stress (easier said than done, I know)
Drink enough water
Exercise a few times a week

Not all of this is specific to looking young, but much of it will help. Genes determine your potential, but lifestyle determines how much of your potential is realized.

Nutrition is infinitely complex and anbody claiming proscripion of the exact proportion of carb/fats/proteins is a snake-oil salesman. The one thing that is known for sure is that reduction of total calories slows down your basal metabolic rate (the rate at which you are living - and dying). Slowing down the rate at which you replace cells is the only credible method of extending a mammals lifespan (and youthfulness).

Theres also no long term evidence of the benefits of strenuous exercise - activity of course burns calories and makes you less fat, but living slowly laregely equates with dying slowly. Look at these women who live until theyre 115 - they spent their whole lives basically doing nothing. Its not the most apealling life but if we're purely thinking about longevity its noteworthy.

I have a handful of vegan straight edge friends who have been in it for 20-30+ years. They're aging incredibly. You can tell the ones who eat shittier than others by the paunch, but they still look about a decade younger than the moderate-to-hard living middle aged punk types I know.

Time doesn't roll backwards. You cannot reverse aging, only delay it's apparent effects. Therefore, the earlier you start the better you will look for longer. Avoid too much sun, as it will fuck your skin up like there's no tomorrow (over time). Just get your 30m a day and then wear sunscreen or some shit. Genetics are a complete fucking lottery and all bets are off then, you can have the shittiest life ever and look fine-ish. So just work with what you have and experiment early to find what kind of lifestyle (diet, type of exercise, skin care, etc) works best for you. That is after you've exited adolescence, which also fucks everything up, so expect a bumpy ride then, but keep going even if no apparent results at the time. Godspeed.

-Dont wash your face too much or your skin will get oilier, wash it once a day.

>hundreds of thousands kidnapped children every year
<citation needed>

At least in the US, the number of kidnapped children only number in the low hundreds per year:
>During the study year (1997-99), there were an estimated 115
stereotypical kidnappings, defined as abductions perpetrated
by a stranger or slight acquaintance and
involving a child who was transported 50 or more
miles, detained overnight, held for ransom or with
the intent to keep the child permanently, or killed.
http://www.unh.edu/ccrc/pdf/MC19.pdf

There are tens of thousands of children/teens abducted each year, but these don't actually go permanently missing like you're implying.
