I've been searching for drop loop pants for a while and finally came around them on ebay and etsy.

The only issue is that each reproduction/vintage pair is around $180.

So I've been thinking about making my own pair but have no item where to start.
I was wondering if /fa/ can help me?

I will gladly accept any suggestions and will post updates with fit.

I get mine from thrift shops then hand them over to my tailor. Average cost per pair comes down to around 15-20€ a pair. I can provide more details if that helps.

what i'd do is take standard suit pants and cut off the belt loops and stich them back on lower by hand, unless there's something im not catching about "drop loop" pants. even if you had a machine i'd opt tp stitch them by hand, unless youre capable of and confident with a bartack function

Oh sorry my man, completely forgot this thread. Well first of all know what you are looking for when thrifting. Pleats are a must for drop loops. A skilled tailor can adjust everything from waistband to cuffs. Double pleats are recommended. Wider waistbands as well since they allow for more alterantions. Be specific when talking to your tailor and if you like a look you saw on a photo, such as on the one you posted don't hesitate to show it and ask for the same thing.
