How come people in the 2000s have no style ? What the FUCK happened that decade.

>> No.14596363

well it was style at the time, even though looking back it's quite cringe
I remember forcing my mother to put blonde streaks in my hair, buy me baggy pants/shorts, always wore shirts over long-sleeves and wore a wallet chain
I was only like 8 btw

Seriously millennials and gen X explain yourselves. What the fuck were you thinking. O don't care about the clothes I want to hear what you thought about putting those clothes on

That was the style dude. We look back on every decade with questionable judgment.

I had a wallet chain in 6th grade. I thought I was a Chad until it got confiscated during a random metal detector day. You can guess what kind of school it was

Even most of today's straight fit pants look slim in comparison. What was going on?

all the abercrombie stuff, mall goth, weird late-era grunge shit, there was a ton. blink 182 was just skate punk, not all fashion. linkin park was nu-metal.
and then there was the early hipster stuff in 02-04 and beyond

The early 2000s was great for female fashion, and I would argue we’re coming full circle, minus the whale tail meme. Men’s fashion of the 2000s was awful though I agree.

Really wasn’t 06-09 was prime streetwear, mainstream was total shit so that’s you’re fault of course if that’s what you leaned towards

To be honest, you¡re looking at pics of rockstars and assuming regular folks dressed that way. In reality, most folks just dressed streetwear (like nowdays or on any other era, for that matter). At most, people who copped that look usually wore the mall fast fashion franchise version which was toned down, so:

-Pants were usually more on the baggy loose fit, good look finding skinny or even slim jeans in that era at any shop. But super-baggy pants were rare, not many people actually wore them.
-Stripped shirts were quite ubiquitous, though
-Wallet chains were sorta common but far from "everybody's wearing one"
-Oversized skater shoes were quite common, usually paired with baggy cargo pants
-Surfer necklaces were all the rage
-Spiked hair was common but not many people dyed or frosted the tips.
-Concurrently to this trend, people into indie rock (proto/early hipster) had a completely differnt look

Every generation idolizes older fashion styles when they've been gone long enough to start subconsciously representing 'better days' for you. The 2000's haven't been gone long enough yet, and opinions will change, and then we'll get a more refined version of the same style back in fringe popularity again, because that's what has happened since the dawn of clothing, pretty much.

these are just the musicians though, just like they are today. And just like today you have kids and people who want to fuck kids dressing like the stars.

Just replay sims 2 and you will see what I'm talking about when I say the fashion was ok. I would wear most things for the sims 2 chicks today.
