>the new sub 126610LN has come out now
>still short 3000-4000€ to cop one
>not that I'm gonna get one at retail any time soon for a while anyway so can wait
so, should I keep saving for one of these shitters? it's the only decent watch I've wanted for a while. If I would wear any analog that is.

and also what version of the sub does /wt/ prefer? The 2008-2020 Ceramic one? the new 2020 larger/new movement one? or the classic/vintage 40mm aluminium bezel ones?
and also date or no date?

The idea of having to wind your chronograph before use is weird and sounds annoying as hell to me. Whenever I use my chrono it’s because I need it right away with quick access and little notice.

My current favorite $10k-$20k watch is the JLC Master Control Chronograph Calendar. 40mm wide and 12mm thick packed with all the complications that you would find in a $30k+ Patek but for like half the price, and honestly probably better movement.

I’ve heard of some AD’s already offering it at $11k. It shits all over many watched in that range, easily.

Only Swiss meat gazers actually think Seiko produces all shitters. Dollar for dollar they're ahead of the curve. They've got plenty of history. As you said, they produce some awesome designs. They've got movements and finishes that beat out a lot of their peers at various price points between entry shitter and luxury shitter.

They're popular and can be found everywhere though, that is what generates most of the vitriol. You can't brag about Seiko for the most part, you are not unique wearing a Seiko. That is an turnoff for the special snowflake crowd.

They were banned because the US didn’t trust the Chinese to not use their involvement to absorb research and knowledge that they could use for their military development.

I did not support the ban when it was first rolled out because it was obviously fear of the US of China catching up. But these days I fully support China being banned from everything. It’s a truly evil government that directly threatens the general order of global peace we have seen post WWII.

The world before the US and Europe set international norms was far more dangerous and scary than it is now.

i understand what you mean, the brand itself doesn't have enough oomph to justify bragging rights just because of the name alone, it will never be that.
What does tend to happen to me is that people will first compliment the watch, and then sometimes recognize the brand when they learn it's a Seiko and sometimes not. But most find the watches ok if not pretty. I do dare to say i have 'some' taste in nice watches, so they got spared as far as weird designs go if you ask me.

Similar posts should be mandatory lecture for everybody who intends to fall for the luxury meme. Big part of the appeal is how you think peoples perception will change towards you because of the reputation of the brand.
Reality is: if you are likeable, people will like everything on you and find ways to justify why it fits you well.
If you are an insecure cunt, waiting for others approval, they will find negatives in everything. or just not notice you at all.

Datejust looks indeed fucking boring, if it has this simple baton dial. Looks bleak. oyster bracelet and a fluted bezel make it better, but dial still sucks.

>friend meets some girl he knew from somewhere

That was a key moment. I was also a bit pissy after she went away. My friend had more experience with women and told me how things are and how it's all about confidence and how you present yourself. He also knew about my watch and liked it, he even said to me that i look more attractive than him, due to fitness, he was sligthly chubby at that time. But he said that they knew eachother and he won her with charisma. That was with 18, 13 years later and were still very good friends.

What the fuck are you talking about? The materials and the crafmanship for one are on a completely different level, it's very easily measurable.

Why would I go to weddings, I'm not gay. And I can just wear a black shirt and a regular black jacket and I'm fine for funerals, no one wears a suit to funerals except maybe the deceased if he was some rich dude.

>> No.15570215

>Without question, a funeral or memorial service calls for a suit. ... Conveying sympathy and respect is your primary goal, and a simple dark suit is the best choice. Even if you don't wear suits often, every man should have one dark suit on hand for occasions such as a funeral.

>As a way of honoring the deceased, you should consider wearing your best and most conservative clothing. A dark dress or a suit is appropriate. Clothing should be clean, neat, and pressed.

Not him and I agree that people can wear a suit but have you actually ever been to church? In a full church there's usually like 20 people max that wear a suit and I'm not talking about bumfuck burgerland, I'm talking about churches with hundreds of seats.

That's aesthetics, not function. You may as well be saying that well done engravings make your gun shoot better. Either you admit that the main function of a watch for you is jewelry or "clout" and that telling acceptable time is secondary, or you can continue to cope with whatever the marketing man has memed you into believing. You aren't a rugged or sophisticated man just because your watch has more gears in it.

>>15570157
You can still wear a dress watch without a suit.

>> No.15570298

>>15570288
Both are true. I happen to use the watch to tell time because it's more handy than a phone and I appreciate the engineering and the craftmanship.
If you need perfect time measurement for a job you're certainly not using a fucking casio shitter either anyway, there are more precise tools.

>> No.15570311

>>15570298
Accuracy and precision are key elements to timekeeping, you can't weasel your way out of it by saying that there's something better out there. Since you prefer craftsmanship and exclusivity over more accurate timekeeping, then it means that timekeeping is a secondary function to you. Why do you feel the need to deny this?

I doubt the creation of a Patek watch required more engineering than the creation of quartz watches, batteries alone required more tech and research that a single patek, mechanical watches get their power from a twisted piece of metal, quartz watches from chemical reactions or even the sun, what sounds cooler?.

I don't think you understand the fact that it doesn't affect my life at all if my watch runs a bit slow or fast. It's still good enough of a measurement for my needs and on top of that I get the other qualities.
You are the one who doesn't accept this reality, I certainly would never claim my watch is more precise than a quartz, I simply say it's irrelevant because I don't lose anything.
