I was the same, hated them. Saw it in person and loved it. Had the older blue ceramic model, which wore better on my wrist in all honestly but was due a service so I just upgraded it. I would buy it on bracelet (by itself £450+) and just buy the rubber strap (£200 strap + £45 buckle).

I love it, what more can I say, running +2.5 sec over a week, I wanted something a bit more shiny, in natural like it looks even better than in the AD, with thir harsh lighting.

I'm forever waiting on a no date sub, was thinking about putting my name down for a 2 tone bluey. Don't like the 39mm explorers or its matte dial and 36mm explorer is nice but I don't like the older braclets. Would rather put OP money to a Sub. Was playing with the idea of a steel black dial Daytona as my "fuck of watch" but inversted the money instead.

Love that JLC with black dial but would probably buy a Reverso duo and plan on it down the time.

I guess it's a conflict of style/purpose. Yes watches are all larp anyways but it may "feel" weird to put a diver on a leather strap because you can't dive with it anymore on a leather strap. It's a fun rule to follow and to keep the larp alive but again, you do you, there is no rules in this "hobby" it's all ridiculous anyways if you start thinking too seriously about it.

I do tend to over think things. Still I figure if you getting ready to go on a dive you just switch out the strap. And at worst the leather isn't gonna disintegrate if you do dive with it. Anyway yeah I'm over thinking it. Oh and Check'd.

3 hander quartz pieces are just boring, I'd rather a mechanical movement in that case.
Plus I would feel bad dropping like 3k on a quartz GS when I could save a bit more and get something better/less basic in either quartz or mechanical.
I like quartz when it's taken advantage of properly. Mechanical chronographs for example would never last if you actually ran them for 12 hours at a time, but quartz has no problem there. Same with shock resistance etc. They also don't need service while mechanical chronos cost 500+ to service.
Longines VHP are just too fucking big and expensive.
The only thing holding me back with the DS2 is the lack of a screwdown case back and being stuck between radiation green and shadow the hedgehog red. The silver on black version is nowhere to be found online sadly.

Think about why omeeeeega is pretty much the single large brand shitting out these movements. Why is patek, rolex, AP etc etc still using swiss lever.
Why did they purposefully stop using 2824's in mid and low end swatch and gimp the beat rate and change out specific components that they refuse to source.
Now find a watch maker who will service any of these new swatch movements or any cuck axial.
You REALLY fucking think that this is a movement that is designed to last?
That's not even talking about the actual technical problems with cuck-axial that numerous watchmakers have done autistic, scientific write ups about how shit they are, including the modern ones.

Sure did, and I’m really impressed with the quality that you get for the price. Nice specs, solid construction, even the finishing is respectable. It just exceeded my expectations. The modeling is about 98% accurate to the original Monster case, and the bracelet is a bit different. Here’s a few talking points
>crown and crown tube assembly is larger than original
>screwdown threading is smooth, always a plus
>bracelet lacks Diver’s extension like original, but uses a superior center collar and pin link assembly which is leagues better than original
>bracelet doesn’t feel as nice as original, because of sharper edges, but overall construction is rock solid
>bezel and click assembly is different than original, so no direct swap is possible
>movement and dial swap is possible, while using Sharkey crown
>didn’t really test WR, but it held up during many laps in an Olympic pool which is good enough for me
>the lume is very good, although not as good as Seiko’s, it is better than any other entry level diver out there. This is a big plus
>the red dial is very charming, like a cranberry red, which strongly resembles the mouth of a shark

Overall, I’m surprised at how good this homage is. Even if it isn’t 100% accurate, it is a good choice for an affordable Monster. It was $160 for such a great watch. This is what Seiko used to be good at, but now they’ve neutered their original design and raised their prices. I know homages are controversial, and purists are going to throw a shitfit, but for the price paid this is a killer watch for the money.

They said they would release a full lume dial version of this, so I’ll grab that. I’m getting another one of these to serve as a donor case for a really beat up Orange Monster, and I expect all of the WUS autists out there to do the same. Thank you for reading my autistic blog post

The artist is a design autist, so the watch was probably his own invention taking inspiration from many types of watches, field, fliegers, sectored dials, vintage chronos..., but I wanted to see if someone knew the most similar watch to it, and after all, it's always nice talking about watches and their design.

Thank you, i was fully aware but some might not have known this.

You did not go to gitmo, it was simply an excuse to harass suspicious people in the country itself.
>During the War on Terror, Pakistani ISI officials found more than 600 of the watches in a terrorist safe house in Karachi which led to a period of anybody being found wearing an F91W watch to be liable for arrest and questioning. However, with the watch being available for $4 dollars on Pakistani markets, simply possessing a Casio watch doesn’t prove anything and this tactic of arrest was soon dropped.

Neither nor, i just get what i like, mostly based on design. Movement is entirely unimportant to me if i like a watch. Not consciously deciding upon a purchase of a watch will only lead to later not really liking it that much. Collecting just for the sake of it is a huge meme for soulless consumerst fags that want to belong to something but they didnt understand that yet. Some never will.

>overseas
Get a some hommage, there are many gerald genta designs out there. And if you cant cure the itch, get a quality fake. Good finishing and no design fuck ups and some solid jap movement. Don't throw your money away on these swiss scams.

That overseas isn't important, your house is. Stay smart, anon.
Make a separate jar for watches with money you can easily miss and have discipline. Let's say a hundred bucks a month, before you know it you have a nice used entry level watch like an Explorer. Being smart, thunk about the residual value of what you buy and trade up from there. Within ten years you could have your overseas and still be sensible and fix your house/pay off your mortgage. Ten years really isn't that long when you think about it.

Is there an actual reason Rolex watches require you to wait on a list for years or pay 3x the retail price to get one? Or is it some Swiss hypebeast bullshit?

It's not like Rolex make more money for themselves on the inflated grey market prices. As for the reason it depends who you ask.

Rolex are restricting supply to increase demand. The dealers are making backhand deals with resellers for more profit instead of selling directly to customers. Flippers. Demand has increased faster then the Rolex supply chain has.

that's because rolex holds back the supply

Just won the auction on this WW1 era watch for 80€ - looks fun and it’s supposed to work perfectly. Guess it’s worth a try.

Why? They could easily make more money by selling more watches.

>> No.15701835

they do it to hurt the grey market so you can only get rolexs from them unless you want to pay big bux
back in the day rolexes used to be the equivalent of $1500 now. when rolex decided to rebrand itself as a luxury watch company rather than a maker of hard use tool watches, they vastly contracted supply on purpose in order to drive up the price of used rolexs. then they used that as justification to raise the prices of their watches at retail, which raised the price of gray market watches more.
rolex played everyone. remember, hans wilsdorf was a marketer, not a watchmaker.
