i wish /ic/ didn't convince me , a middling /beg/, that drawing floating anime heads was a terrible, heinous crime against art. i have dont nothing but draw floating anime people, i have not left my "comfort zone" in weeks and i couldn't be happier. it gives me breathing room to think carefully about every facial feature, because im not trying to juggle 100 different thoughts that take place when attempting a dynamic drawing.

i would liken it to studying a math problem in a quiet room vs studying a math problem with doing a hula hoop and dribbling a basket ball. could i do that? maybe. but i'd rather take the quiet room.

I'm not trying to be rude, but are you stupid? I just wrote that they are neglecting anatomy and perspective and just dump all their time into rendering.

Look at the woman on the right, her trap muscles. Theyre not even connected to the body. Look at her neck, it's just floating in space. The artists didn't learn anything about anatomy in those 6 months. (S)he just spent all day long grinding fabric and rendering. This is just symbol drawing with colorful cutesy rendering. Whch is fine, but that's what it is.

Begs on /ic/ are bullied into grinding anatomy and perspective, theyre told to grind gesture and anatomy studies for months. Theyre told to copy Bargue plates and do all sorts of exercises normie artists never touch until theyre much farther along

I spend 5+ hours drawing per day. I make some progress when I look at what I drew a month ago. But I still have no idea how to use the tools in front of me, in terms of SAIs native functions. All the resources ive found explaining it are in japanese or from infographics made by teenagers on deviantart.

I think its low hanging fruit to accuse me of being lazy or willfully ignorant/not putting in effort. The more difficult thing to do is to consider maybe I have a point and there's a lot of things about digital art learning curves and drawing processes that aren't actually explained anywhere
