oldfag here. I remember it being so gradual that few made a big deal about it. Digital was mainly for graphic design & video games before it evolved to a point where it could be a viable alternative to traditional media. The only pushback I vaguely remember were articles discussing how digital was a poor substitute for the tactile quality of traditional, and some drawing/painting teachers gently mocking the graphic design students for using computer programs (not getting their hands dirty).
It's only in retrospect I'm more critical of the widespread adoption of digital (and I was an early adopter). It reinforced an aesthetic that basically paved the way for AI, an over-rendered, sterile aesthetic that increasingly used 3D and photo bashing, leaving less evidence of the human hand.
For the record I do agree the PROCESS differs between digital & AI, but I predict aesthetically the two will be linked together. I hope for a trad backlash, even if it's just a niche counterculture.

Holy fucking shit why isn't there any good forum based communities left. It's either you dunked on by 80 year old trad Chad's, your art gets lost in minutes within discord or you're only allowed to post finished or good wips on Twitter.

this has been propably discussed multiple times. But what is the best Art forum these days, or community. Where you can maintain example a sketchbook get feedback, discuss, make art friends etc. Everything feels so temporal.
