How do you guys come up with ideas for your pieces? I feel like all my ideas are just retreads of generic shit you'd see on pages like ArtStation. I've lost all the imagination I had when I was starting off. Everything just feels fucking generic.

If I just start drawing something without thinking about it, I'll just do another fantasy/sci-fi creature spazzing out, some dude in armor, some muscular dude with a sword/ax, some pretty lady, etc. I guess there's nothing wrong with doing shit like that but I always get demotivated to finish my work because I know it has zero relevance. It's not telling a story. It's just: "Hey, that's pretty neat." - and I can't help feeling stupid when I'm posting it.

I've mostly gravitated towards fan art recently but I feel like it's a huge crutch and it eliminates the whole design process which kinda sucks. I also like doing overpaints or recreations of really shitty art I find but that just feels like stealing.

You guys have any techniques to generate ideas for unique pieces? Any sites where you can find fun art challenges or competitions? Where do you find your inspiration?

I'm so fucking tired of these threads... Why don't you guys go complain in /pol/ or something? I don't care about any of these gender issues or representation and blah blah blah. Even if I did, I wouldn't like to talk about this shit on a fucking art board... The internet is already full of this fucking shit and I don't think we need it here.

This isn't even badly drawn. If you don't read the word bubbles it's just a solidly done, basic webcomic. It's not amazing but it's not bad either. These people seem to have a particular style they're shooting for. It's not really appealing to me, personally, but neither is the cutesy anime stuff I often see here. Just because it's not appealing to me it doesn't make me cringe and neither does most of the stuff in this thread. I "get it" but it's just not for me so I just move on. I don't save it on my computer and get all angry over it.

Why do you need to bring politics to any of this anyway? I'm pretty left-leaning myself and I have no fucking clue what my favorite artists political views are. That's because reeing about your political views, as an artist, is really fucking unprofessional. I know Brad Rigney is pretty religious and I've heard he's kind of right-leaning but I don't fucking care. He seems like a nice dude, a good father a great teacher even though his art isn't my favorite shit in the universe.

If you were actually REALLY FUCKING GOOD and you kept posting your work on multiple places and applied for actual jobs you wouldn't be having any of the petty problems you're describing here.

Each set card should be 5.5 cm wide and 10 cm high, whereas the illustration should only take up the upper two thirds. To decide on style and artist with which/whom we would like to continue, we would ask you to initially create a trial set of about three cards, given your interest (and consent in writing) in building a future working relationship with our company. We will then forward our hiring contract to be returned counter-signed by you (via email in advance and original to follow via regular mail) and will kindly ask you to contain a sample of your art work in compliance with the above-mentioned scenery (three trial set cards). In order to avoid that you will be working on a free-of-charge-basis, please furthermore provide us with a cost estimate as per illustration. Furthermore, please let us know the amount of your maximum possible art work output (e. g. five set cards per week).
