Really pixelated sorry about that. So next project of sorts. Going for middle ground values opening up my color options.

So in my attempts to find a rendering methods that works for me I decided to try to render out some filigree. So I do not like it ,however, I do still need to push my idea of what rendered is further. Lots of trial and error.

I like it, but you're right about what you need to improve on. I'd also add that you should really play around with the reflected light of the red cloth more. Certain areas that should be receiving most of the reflected red light, like the bottom of the helmet in shadow and back of the leggings have practically none.
A personal opinion, but I'd prefer you simply the sword a bit. All the round red gemstone bits make it look like a children's toy.

Im trying to learn how to do correct faces... I grabbed this raily method but i never can keep things symetrical and same approporiate size on each half. Every time it looks like a man even tho im trying to do a female. Im frustrated as fuck with this and want to go back to my animu. I went thru hampton and vilppu on head.

or maybe i just need to keep doing them and it will click in some time ? idk i dont feel like it will.

>> No.1707721

>>1707718
the method you use doesn't really matter all that much. just close observation. concentrate on the secondary volumes, the cheeks, cheek-bones, fore-head, that bit next to the forehead where there's a dent, the muzzle and the jaw.

there's a tendency with faces especially to focus on the features, but they rely on the secondary structure for their placement, if you get that stuff right you can just pop the features into their appropriate spot.

Please ignore the shitty camera work.

The first one is ballpoint pen.
The issue I see: With this one I know the table texture dosn't actually look like wood. Looks more like a mineral.
I also know the glass isn't straight and the fabric's petter gets corrupted in and after the glass.

Second one
All pencil.

The issue I see: I know it is a mess where one can't tell the table and courtain apart.
The wooden puzzle looks nothing like it is in real life.
The shadow of the glass looks like a cardboard cutaout. Its dissonant with the rest of the table.

Something that will help you while doing pencil studies and drawing in general is the notion of local tone. Say, however the light is coming, a banana is likely to be overall lighter than a pear next to it; capturing those differences through your shading will help your drawings a lot. You can even use different pencils, from harder (lighter) to softer (darker), to work among different ranges of local tones and different levels of detail in textures (which you might want to start defining as well: the rock to "feel" like a rock, the peach like a peach...); people normally use HB (HARD/BLACK) cause is right in the middle, but personally I prefer a good 3H (or even 6H) to work some stuff in very fine detail.

Sounds similar to what happened to me before, I have an old Bamboo Fun.

I ended up messing with a bunch of options and I eventually got it to work, although I don't remember the specifics I did something along the lines of below.

What model do you have?
Have you tried uninstalling your current driver then downloading an older driver (One without the weird apps that they've attached to the newer ones.)
Have you already tried messing with the Pen and Touch properties in the Control Panel?
Have you made sure to go to Press and hold and disable the press and hold for right clicking?

In other news, is my anatomy and perspective totally off on this drawing I've done?

Shoot, well if you haven't updated the drivers since the 2009 version you should give that a shot. I figured that you already updated them from the site.

Look up whatever version that tablet is and google around too if you haven't already. It looks like a Bamboo Pen and Touch like you put originally. If it has a little red thing it's that, but if it's green then it's a Bamboo Connect

http://us.wacom.com/en/support/legacy-drivers/

Also, have you tried using it on different software? It's possible that SAI just isn't picking up that you're using a tablet. It's something that's possible. I just looked it up and looks like there are other people that have issues with using SAI and fixes:

I'm working on the assumption that your tablet is working on mouse mode. Are your lines all only one size? Also, MSpaint doesn't work with pressure sensitivity iirc

But yeah, if you can actually make tapered lines and go from skinny to thick by applying pressure then you need to practice, because at that point it's not the tablet but you. Go look at the sticky and its resources under digital painting if that's the case.

Otherwise, google some more things if the links I've given you don't work. Checking out the sticky is still a good idea either way though, if you haven't already.

Is the flashing still there right now and it just doesn't register the pen?

Try to strip the drives completely if you haven't already, so there's no trace of them on your computer.
Before you do that make sure you remove the backups it makes on the Bamboo preference utility. Then uninstall. Don't forget to unplug your tablet.

I'm starting to think that maybe you installed the wrong drivers? If you still have the 2009 disc put that in, but if not go check what it says under your tablet and it should say what version it is. After that go to the Wacom site and get one from there and reinstall, restart, plug it in and see if it gets detected. These lines feel a bit first drafty, try and knock them out in a more fluid motion. It looks like you've tried very hard to do it slowly in one motion and gotten jittery in bits.

You've actually done a decent job of the shadows but I think you're mixing styles you need to decide on cartoon or more realistic because right now it's sitting somewhere in between the two.

Also I'm not sure if this is in addition to the stretched anatomy but the definition between neck and shoulders is non-existent, similarly it seems you've added an extra bend in the spine, it's fine to elongate the body but if you add an extra bend it looks unnatural. But seriously keep at it and it will look tops don't knock yourself down and don't leave this work like it is refine it and you'll have something magical.

thanks, you really made my day. This is actually the first time i posted anything on this board. Like being in a christian summer camp you just kinda get used to seeing people who have been in this business for years rape younger amateurs. I'll make sure to take your critique to heart.

This was a request from a friend who wanted an anime look. But, as lurking around on this board thought me, striving for realism and Loomis like levels of competence are way more important, and thus, i never really had that phase of "drawing shitty animu" like many others on this board

I'm trying to get back into drawing people, but it's very hard. All my drawings feel awkward and stiff.

Constructive crits, redlines, all would be VERY appreciated. I'll take whatever you got, throw it at me. ANYTHING!

Most of the muscles will be painted over (more builtfat than ripped, but I needed to know where the muscles would be).

Specific places I really need feedback
-The pectorals
-The ankle/feet
- The hands: Some of his fingers are amputated and I'm finding it really hard to draw them. Basically the ring fingers at the second joint, both pinkies to to the first joint.

hey guys, this is a little black and white piece I'm working on. Hoping /ic/ can give me some tips before I start the shading.

The grey lines are mostly just references for shading.

I appreciate that. Here's another I did recently, first time digitally coloring an ink drawing.
