I sketched for the first time in almost a year. I'm gonna start drawing everyday, here's some I did of a few statues. I'll post one of my references too.

i actually feel that studies are comforting and not boring at all.
i say that because i so desire to get better at drawing reality that i am willing and ready to drop all stylized work until i have a solid grasp of reality.
think what Vetyr did when she got started. she just started drawing people over and over without even any books like Loomis or whatever, aside from a few tips like the trapezius method for face features (pic). just mileage until she could draw humans basically perfectly. and this is a short span of time too
that's what i want basically, since my favorite subject is also drawing people and characters.

Not for me though, I'd love the freedom to be able to be to be able to fit my post frequency sensibly to whatever project I'm currently working on.

For an example, daily posts’d make sense for sets of quick gestures or something, and for a project at the level of a portfolio piece, a nice lengthy span would be in order. I wouldn’t want to resort to posting fifty process shots of the same painting, etc. in such a case.

Also lets say I worked with gestures for a while, posting sets daily, then I felt I'd work best by switching to a much extended frequency for a portfolio piece. I couldn’t do this without breaking my streak if I had set myself to the site's currently delineated spans. I'd break my streak every time I tried to go from a short spanned project to a long. This would display me as constantly dying on the front page and would feel pretty discouraging, when it was in reality just a natural result of the site's current simplified means of processing part of my work routine. (Out of sync since it’s flexible and project-dependent.)

It might be suggested that I set my streak permanently to a week and just post more at irregular intervals, but if I were using it that way, my set frequency would already not match what I’m really doing and be just as personally meaningless to me as if I didn’t set one at all. It’d feel a lot more positive a way of working to me personally if I could just do it <naturally flowing from my work,> in my head, with personal accountability, (I automatically draw every day though, so that bit’s not really needed.) I’d be very happy if I were able to focus on working without being distracted/ jolted from my current project by worrying about an arbitrarily set day/frequency.

To me las has always been about setting yourself a goal and forcing yourself to stick to it. The perfect way to do that I think would be to do exactly that, set yourself goals.

If you could say I want to post daily now for 3 weeks, t hen your streak is daily for 3 weeks, you can't change that - but when it's up you get to take a step back and think about what you want to do in your next period - what is your next goal? Maybe you'll end up doing every other day for 2 weeks.

In addition to setting how often you post during your "goal period", you define what your goal is and it's displayed on your profile, your submission, etc. Say you set a 2 weeks goal to post daily studies of anatomy. Wouldn't making chunks like that make sense? Sounds like a better system than the current one anyways. Anyone else have wondered how las could be structured differently? I'm not really thinking about what could be implemented, what's easy etc, I'm just wondering what would the best tool look like?

Are there going to be changes in challenge system?
Sucks that the person that created the tower girl challenge doesnt seem to be doing it. Same with mechmancer and others as well.
I love challenges and doing stuff together as a community -its a great motivator. But if you propose something, at least give it your best instead of shit on our heads.
I hope we get more theme based challenges instead of skill dependent challenges. 90% are below tier 2 and doing sonething beyond their skill only produces forced garbage and dont learn anything.
for example the apple challenge was good in that it was a sinple theme with creative freedom. It wasnt skill dependent so anyone could do it depending on their skill and push themselves from there. Things like mecha challenge most of the begs couldnt even try which was unfortunate.

I used to use that bent paper technique too :3
Personally I recommend drawing an oval with two lines across it, a sideways line to mark the bottom of the eyes and a downwards line to mark the center of the face.
I also really really recommend drawing out skulls,they're not hard to understand and you can then stretch skin over them and learn how the face actually works from a form perspective

Your biggest problem right now is that you are doing the facial features bigger than the face itself. By chance someone posted a good visualization of how the features should sit in the face on this very thread >3557240.
Of course, don't follow this face construction tutorial because it's really incomplete and it sucks.
The facial features positioning on a 3D plane you are starting to get, but it does take time to get right. In any case, I see you draw lost of lines that hint at measurements, but don't really mean anything. Instead of drawing stuff kinda how they are supposed to be, go learn Loomis head proportions properly and really pay attention to the measurements of the face.
