Tangential to /ic/ but still counts, right?
I periodically prune all (few) small talk tweets and I go long periods just posting art and only talking about art. Sometimes an artist I follow says something and I leave a brief comment or relevant joke but in most cases they don't even answer. On top of that I feel like I'm being unprofessional just by doing this kind of stuff and I feel bad about it. Should I just not bother with conversation? I always reply to my followers and leave those tweets alone when I prune.

maybe your shadowbanned? you should be trying to interact with people more on your level. ofc someone with 100k or 10k followers is probably gonna ignore you.

I don't know about other people, but I personally don't really like this. I prefer when people actually take the time to say something about my stuff, rather than "nice one!" or [funny meme]. Try starting a conversation by asking a question, and not just commenting for the sake of it.

I can't even register a fucking twitter account because minutes upon registering I get my account blocked with the accusation of "suspicious activity" and their fucking phone confirmation thing doesn't work even.

Twitter just seems like the coldest site to me. People interact with me way more on insta, DA and tumblr.

My art heroes like my tweets on their work sometimes

Oh I meant exactly that, I usually comment on anecdotes or small talk when I have something relevant to say. Other times I make a question on the art like "how did you approach [problem] when making this pic" or whatever, something like that but they never reply?

How do I check?

>ofc someone with 100k or 10k followers is probably gonna ignore you.
They're not big shot artists, something like 2k-5k followers and many of them tweet a lot. I don't really bother trying to talk with people with tons of followers.

Can't you install the google authenticator app and use that one instead? I always got blocked immediately and had to confirm the phone but then everything was fine.

I had the same experience across all platforms but I never reblogged stuff on Tumblr. Now I only have Twitter and my art is a lot better.
Also should I even bother posting sketches or WIPs? Right now I just don't bother. My art is just ink without colors and it's already hard to notice especially in thumbnail because the lines are so thin.

I'm not shadowbanned, at least according to a test website

I try to make talk with those that share the same interests as me. For motivation or just something interesting to talk about. If they don't reply I just don't bother trying to converse in the future. This really worked out well for me when a conversation unintentionally got an artist excited on a piece I was working on, which when I posted got RTed and snowballed from there.

Get a real phone. I made like 5 accounts in the last month and got all of them verified with my phone.

Using right #s help. Some people really love searching their favorite #s.

Another hot tip for getting traffic, is to make fan-art of a game and @ it at devs/pubs/localization teams. Some of them occasionally retweet even the most /beg/ tier art. Indie studios are a prime target, localization teams such as XSEED is another.

Obviously, making fan-art for shit you don't give a fuck about isn't always fun, but I mean.. admit it, you fucking love it when you get notifications, you little slut.

Maybe try interacting with any artists you notice are fairly responsive to comments. If they only ever post art and don’t say much to others then they might not be interested in interaction. Have you ever had an artist like your replies? Sometimes I do that when I want to acknowledge someone’s comment but don’t have anything worthwhile to say. If they don’t interact with the post in any way it could also be that they get a lot of notifs and may not notice some comments. Somehow, I have the same problem but on the artist side.
>have decent following and make popular posts/drawings
>try to make tweets that encourage small talk
>get ignored
>post artist memes like “what would my art taste like” and “what’s a trademark of my art style”
>get one response, lucky to get even two
>meanwhile artists with much less followers post the same memes and get more responses
Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but the only significant difference between me and those other artists were that their media was clogged with reaction images that had “relatable” joke captions. I joke sometimes too, but not that much.
