This.
I miss old y2k fanart based on nostalgia, but good riddance in terms of cultural influence. Also, many artists from the y2k era either became better artists or worked on the “cal arts” style, which is a variation of flat eastern art, like figures from chibi anime or Japanese logos, that are hurt by the lack of volume. If more “calarts” style artists studied perspective, proportion, and volume, they would be killers. On the other hand, a lot of artist from both eras stagnated and will never improve

Back in the DA days people were trying to fit in the community.
Nowadays you have to be the leader of the community or else you're worthless, so you try to be as unique as possible while at the same time looking generic enough that people will follow you.

More Chinese artists, resultantly less creativity

I heavily prefer the cell-shaded look and closer to realism style of the 90s/00s era of anime (also not a huge fan of moe blobs) but that's just a preference. I can understand that there's still a lot of good anime artist that came after like Yoh Yoshinari and MIA even if it's not my thing. W-what did the scuba autist do?
I'm already cringing in expectation.

>> No.4406924

>>4406919
Scuba autist pretty much wouldn't leave her alone and constantly talked about his scuba obsession and was always commissioning her for scuba art. I guess she got so fed up that the money wasn't worth it anymore. Apparently there are some other details about the situation that are being kept private.

If you want maximum cringe, the guy made a blog about it. Who knows how much of it is true though, apparently he's been lying about it.

Is it that same fucker that keeps drawing these weird furshit scubadivers with the same template only difference is the colors? I think there's an actual picture of this sick puppy in scuba gear showing off his fully erect package.

Person F, the artist, became friends with M, the scuba diving fetishist, while they worked on his Cardcaptor Sakura - Sakura and Friends at the Aquarium Part 2 project.

But she apparently had to give up commissions from other people to work on that project. I don't know about the money since he doesn't say anything and the next thing happens.

Things went south and they started fighting each other a lot apparently, there was a third person somewhere at that point that M hated for who knows why, the third guy was friends of F, will call him MM.

M, as he states, doesn't want MM and F friendship to end because of himself so he steps away willingly. What a good guy.

Apparently he made a promise to never talk about this but here we are.

What is Cal Arts style?

>> No.4408317

No, it's not. From what I an tell this guy doesn't draw his own art at all, only commissions others and uploads the results to his page.
