1. Because I know I'm not good enough yet, and seeing zero likes can be discouraging even if I damn well know I don't deserve more. I also don't want sub-par unfinished crap on my profile, but making anything finished takes forever
2. I can't teach myself how to do digital painting. No matter how hard I try, it ends up looking like garbage. But if I just do flat color > colored lines > cell-shading everybody will see me as an amateur

My friend however is actually good but has the same problem. She often deletes her work after making it. And I had to keep her sketchbook to keep her from throwing it out

Guess artistry and melancholy go hand-in-hand, like the temperment says

Being an artist is more than just producing arywork, you need to constantly surround yourself with artists, art and new ideas. By posting art online is more easy to get in touch with other artists and networking.

If you only think about technic proeficiency, you wont make it. Thats why you have a bunch of guys in here that only sketch, but cant produce something completed to their liking. Even if you achieved maximum gains, no one would know about you, no one would care.

I also think that people that wont post work because they think is not good enough, although sympathetic with them, seem they are a bit of egotistical... Normies and other artists will loom at your work for 3 to 4 seconds and thats that, like in this board, I can only remember 1 or 2 drawings, the rest I see it and forget it. The same happens with everyone.

1 - when your main income is drawing, you're a lot less interested in proving your self to some spergs online. You just stop giving any fucks, because you know the same sperg plays with the shit you created or wanks off to the pussies you've drawn. The paycheck is enough of a compliment and you no longer need to have your ego petted

2 - a lot of those who work in any part of the industry, even if freelancing, would prefer to not be seen on the chans. We all know what everyone thinks about this place -it's just not a good business decision.

For me at least, it's because the people around me know I barely do anything other than draw all day, so showing them that I'm mediocre at best is embarrassing.

For me its insecurity, but I also tend to not post any updates when I'm working on projects, because I don't the person I'm working for to think that I'm doing that and not doing their work.
