5151127 No.5151127 [Reply] [Original]

This is a thread to discuss all kinds of digital drawing hardware: non-display graphics tablets, pen display tablets, portable tablets and more.

>What should I buy?
State your:
>Budget
>Location
>Type (display? non-display? portable?)
>Size (in inches)
>Other information
>Previous equipment

If you have any additional questions, ask them.

>Recommended tablets:

Intuos 3 - Best budget tablet.
Intuos Pro M - The best non-display tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite - Budget portable display tablet. Very solid drawing experience with Wacom EMR tech.
Used iPad Pro 2nd Gen 12.9" - Best option for a display tablet.
Galaxy Tab S7+ - Good premium alternative to an iPad Pro
Used Cintiq Pro 24 - Big tablet for big budgets

>Avoid:

XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand - Poor build quality, lackluster pens, broken tilt, struggles to register light pressure, horrible customer support and the displays are not calibrated. All Chinese brands are basically the same because they're all centralized. Also watch, Chinese companies shill HARD on /ic/. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Microsoft Surface Pro - The N-Trig digitizer means you will always get wobbly lines.
Lenovo - Bad drawing performance.

they're smarter than that. some chink companies put cards in their packages that offer a refund through paypal if you give them a review. there are contractors that maintain a list of people to do this with as well. when a chink company hires them for reviews they select a different set of people from their list and send them the money to buy it. they say to give honest reviews and the only rule is to not mention you got it for free. obviously people are more inclined to like free products so they'll probably give a good review but they're honest enough that they're indistinguishable from actual reviews.

>> No.5151690

>>5151656
>>5151681
oh i forgot, they care more about getting people to search for the product than reviews. with the way amazon's algorithm works, if people search for something and buy it then it's more likely to show up for other customers. because of this they give you search terms and a screenshot to help you find it instead of giving you a link. this has become a common way for chinks to cheat the system since it works.

Has it ever once occurred to any of you that if someone recommends the xp pen tablet they got that its not because theyre a shill but because it lets them draw for a lower price? These things fucking work. Ofc /g/ autists who focus on comparison charts and abstract performance numbers dont care about this, but for the actual people on this board, for actually drawing shit, cheaper tablets work fine. This is why despite all the claims of them being shit, despite the claims of them having awful PR, response, quality, all of it, theyve been very successful. Its not some fucking giant chink conspiracy where they spend millions of dollars to keep drawing tablet companies afloat to make marginal profits. This is companies who luckily for us have followed the rules of the market and created competition for wacom jews and created affordable alternatives which just so happen to work.

Thinking theres an army of shills here while at the same time thinking its the same individual called chang who spends all his time trying to market on a channel as shitty as this low traffic board is pure mental illness, which is why we all should make fun of the OP.

and I'm sure you're doing that purely out of the goodness of your own heart, not because you're a chinese salesman at all!

That would explain why you're in this thread 20 hours a day, hurling abuse at anyone who highlights a flaw in the design of cheap, china trash.

Actually, thats close. Its because I used a cheap tablet for several years and Ive never ever had trouble with them. When I see people paying 350 for intuos tablets I cant help but tell them not to. I dont particularly care about the actual companies, I just want wacom to have to become more affordable and the chinks are forcing them to. Then we all win.

I can also tell you arent an artist who figured you could host a tablet general here instead of /g/ where something must have happened to force you to exodus here. So when you try and act like an expert with little regard for the folks who actually, yknow, USE this shit, I have to respond. So until you shut the fuck up, I will never, ever go away. the matte screen protector is what you want for drawing and painting. It makes it feel like you’re drawing on a high end Cintiq Pro (I know because I have one too), it gives the surface a tooth like you’re drawing on paper. You need at least a screen protector anyway just to save the screen from random cosmetic scratches that will annoy the fuck out of you while you’re trying to work, and Apple won’t fix the screen for you unless it’s seriously cracked or shattered, and even then only if you pay for AppleCare+

The small bezels are semi negated by the fact that the tablet is so thin and light I can also daw with it in my lap or move it around to compensate.

Overall I think im gonna just sell my hybrid. The s7+ beats it in 90% of cases, and I doubt wacom will put out any decent new products in the next few years. Your pen position is mapped to the screen (as long as you aren't in mouse mode, that is for psychopaths). If you put the pen in the top left corner of the tablet it will be at the top left corner of your screen.

The disconnect is very strange at first, but you get used to it entirely after about 1 week, maybe 2 weeks if you're a slow learner. Just practice drawing lines at different angles, circles, boxes, shapes, etc until you get the hang of it. If you are into rhythm games, play Osu! That shit helped me with my tablet hand eye coordination a lot.

Screen tablets are nice but if you're a poorfag you should really stick with a screenless for the time being. There are more parts which means there's so much more that could go wrong with those things, and repairs are expensive. If you have the money to burn just go for it though. Pretty much. I think Teoh is mostly unbiased, and Lisa from Mobile Tech Reviews is really good. Everyone else is usually paid off to read a script or only give good reviews. Either that or they feel pressured into giving favorable reviews so that they can keep getting free tablets for their videos.

I was a wacomfag all my life until they started seriously declining in quality after the intuos 4 era, ever since I've been on a never ending search for a good replacement for their shit. I miss when they made good tablets and decent drivers.

If you desire grey you will have to color it grey and not use outdated display panels.

To anyone in here looking for a good panel.
VA Panels and OLEDs color vibrancy, range and HDR capability is tenfold greater. Yet they are not more expensive than those highly advertised super duper IPS Dell ultrasharps.
My goto recommendation is the benq ew3270u because it beats every other montior when it comes to color and contrast and accuracy (delta e) in objective measurements. Then it also is 4k and HDR due to the great color range, superb contrast and high brightness/vibrancy.
IPS is outdated. That is the objective truth. Just like Cathode Ray displays got replaced by TN displays, IPS alread have been and even VA Panels will soon be fully replaced by OLED.
To anyone else not looking to buy a screen but understand this better, get familiar with color volume and 10 bit and
