It's such a shame whenever competent artists get ignored. I thought the low number of followers that you mentioned was due to you being on a Fediverse instance, but no, your Twitter has an abysmally low number of followers as well. I guess you should draw more fanart of popular characters and make gift art of popular people in hopes of them retweeting it. Alternatively, crank up the sex appeal, but even that feels cheap.

Asians don't give a flying fuck about OC. I've seen artists that average 10k likes receive 1000< on OC. It's almost exclusively a western thing among teens, trannies, furries and other undesirables from discord.

Your art is great but I have zero clue what niche you are catering to, if you even are catering to one. Pick a topic that you like. Let's say that topic is vtubers. Now pick a certain niche within that topic that has appeal and you enjoy as well. Let's say it's feet (bear with me). I forgot his name but there's this one huge artist that exclusively draws high-quality rendered pictures of vtubers where their feet are the main focus of the piece, kek. Every time I see a new drawing, I immediately recognize it's his art. You don't have to do fetish shit, but do something that is memorable and keep doing it. Fanart helps a lot.

The most important part is that you need to build your identity first. What type of artist are you? The one that draws feet coom of vtubers? The one that draws anime girls in historically accurate knight armor? You need to be identifiable by this one trait. That's why people follow artists, to get more shit of the same thing. OC should only be a priority once you've made it. I'd say a good rate is posting 70% fanart and 30% OC. The more followers you gain, the less fanart and the more OC you post. The best of both worlds would be catering to the same niche with BOTH fanart and your OC.

You can do it, anon! I believe in you. 2024 will be the year of the artist!!!

>> No.7018397

>>7018273
anon that is seriously not bad at all, but you're forgetting the key element when it comes to reaping in clout
first you draw characters that's already popular with the internet (whether from an anime, cartoon, or whatever)
then when you have a decent following, THEN you introduce your oc's

your artstyle is cute, draw some a anime babes, and yes you may have to be suggestive with a lot of them, and just wait

OP definitely looks very similar to rariato. At this point, he might as well just leech from rariato and draw fanart of one of his characters and post it, because rariato likes and retweets a lot of fanart from his characters judging from personal experience. People who like his stuff would likely enjoy OP's also.

>> No.7018488

The problem with drawing fanart to gain an audience is that people will follow you only for the fanart and disregard everything else. You run the risk of gaining a following off of shoddy fanart only to turn around and put a lot of effort into original work that will get a few pity interactions from disinterested followers who might acknowledge that the work is good, but can't muster the energy to really care about it. That will demotivate you faster that posting to a small but interested audience will.

This is where I am currently stuck. I started out originally drawing Shantae fanart since the characters were cute, but it rapidly changed and I wanted to do my own stuff in earnest. That's why you do it very slowly. It's like planting seeds. Your audience shouldn't even notice that you are increasingly posting more oc content, like they're the unsuspecting frog getting boiled in the pot that starts out cold but gets increasingly more hot.

Also, the most crucial part is that your oc and fanart needs overlap. Shantae fans probably like her because of her attitude, her nice exposed belly and perky tits. Do your ocs have any of those traits? If you're a coom artist that draws coom of badass chicks with huge tits, then your oc also needs to be a badass looking chick with freaking huge tits. If you can give the people more of the same thing, they won't mind it's oc. That's why so many big artists can get away with posting oc frequently, other than because the design of the character simply looks great and appealing in general.

This is not 2010 anymore. You need to draw FoTM anime like Frieren or Bocchi (quick way to gain follower but harder, a bar of good art is higher for those) or a very niche community like Persona or BNHA (easier as the bar for good art is lower but slower follower gain) and add proper hashtag maximum 3, the series name in japanese and english, just search twitter for top result with 10k+ likes and copy it.
That way the algorithm will recommend your art to potential viewer. The algorithm won't know your audience if you only upload OC, this is only viable if you already have a big following from other media or you're an artist of popular game

You clearly like to draw your OCs, which is fine, but it will be signifigantly more difficult to get likes/RTs/followers than with fanart. Your art style is nice and recognizable, but one issue I see is that much of your art is just your OC posing against a simple background. It's hard for a viewer not familiar with your series to get excited about it. You could try making pictures more like this one https://twitter.com/nabelhouse/status/1745454395536691301, where you have your OCs but also fill a niche. In other words, rather than making something that says "Look at my OC", try to make something that says "Look at this guy/girl being/doing X" where X is some sort of a niche.

Also, consider using hashtags more. Since you like to draw original art maybe try using some of these at appropriate times:
#冬の創作クラスターフォロー祭り
#絵柄が好みって人にフォローされたい
#ド直球に言いますがフォローしてください
#今月描いた絵を晒そう
#ゴールデンウィークSNS展覧会2024
#三連休はフォロワーさんが増えるらしい
#2024年自分が選ぶ今年上半期の4枚
#一次創作絵師拡散フェス04
