I'm going crazy /ic/.
Can you please tell me how close you draw to the screen/paper?

The thing is that ergonomics recommend at least an arm of distance to the monitor, but when I'm painting I necessarily need to be very close.

I'm wondering if the arm rule only applies to office work and not for art.

I don't think there is a right answer cause sitting for to long in any posture is bad

idk about eye strain but I've had weeks where I've worked on a screen for 10hrs a day and my eyes are fine. My back killed tho

I did buy one of those 800 dollar ergo chairs and tilt my desk by 10 degrees. The tilt didn't do shit, but the chair did resolve my back problems.

However, like this anon said >>2859528 even in perfect posture you're bound to run into problems anyways if you're in that state for too long. Every 2 hours I tend to take a small 10 minute break. Walk around my apartment and what not.

So using a Cintiq is out of the question?

I don't know if I'd go that far, but it is something of a concern all things considered.

Fuck it. I ordered a pair from Amazon.

If they don't work at least I'll watch tv with them.

Does anyone here have some experiences with knee chairs like pic related? I've been getting back pains lately because I have trouble sitting straight. I heard these could help a lot but they look so stupid I want to know if they're memet-tier or actually work.

Odd to get used to, you'll also be putting pressure on your knees and isn't that comfortable for extended periods of time. They're not exactly bad and it depends on the cost, look into proper ergonomic chairs if you want to spend the money on something quality and comfortable.

But does it solve back pains?

>> No.2868020

I don't know. Why do you have trouble sitting straight? Do you have a fucked up spine or is it because of years of bad posture? If its the later then a chair with no back support won't help you strengthen your muscles innately, thats on you making a concious effort to stop slouching like some knuckle dragging cretin.

You can always get those glasses for looking at screens for extended periods. Wouldn't work for color work but it'd help eye strain for anyone who's having it for the sketching and lineart process at least

I was discussing exactly this the other day. Cintiq is a meme.

A regular tablet with no screen allows better posture.

Allows more productivity by allowing to always have a hand on the keyboard.

And you can use your powerful desktop instead of a laptop tier machine.

have you faggots received yours yet?

I find mine too heavy and uncomfortable whether standing or lying down. its pretty great but not that great
if i had to pick between lying down and drawing on a cintiq with a slight head tilt or with the glasses i'd pick the former. (slight neck tilt > eye strain imo)

This meme just made me glad I don't wear glasses for a living

>But does it solve back pains?
Start lifting weights. Even a light program where you only lift twice a week is enough to fix your back, neck and shoulders.
