Having a slow day. Let's talk contemporary fine art, I'm based in England so I will be biased.
How are the new shows in Tate? Bonnard?
Who saw the Sean Skully documentary on on BBC? I'm glad it showed how much of a fucker he was, I've met the guy and I'm glad its common knowledge hes a prick now.
Any upcoming graduate artists your looking at to swipe for your collection?
As always best contemporary artists working today?

Also it's funny how they never show the artwork alone in these promo photos. They always have to put some faggot looking at it or the artist in front of the canvas so that it looks somewhat less shit.

I forgot to post my own but I'm excited about Adam Lee, I haven't had a chance to visit his studio but I'm enjoying what I see.

His website is hilarious, it just features him looking angry before his paintings.
Also, as a curator, you have to sign up to be a part of his website to contact him. I've never seen an artist with a more pretentious system.

Always keeping up with Tala Madani and Dana Schutz.

Part of that is probably to make sure you can't just get a digital copy of the artwork.

And this only applies to shitty abstract art? Everyone would do it if that were the case. If anything this abstract shit would be even harder to rip digitally because it's often made with thick paint so you'd lose a lot of detail without a very high definition photo.
Let's be honest, it's to make the work look authoritative because this garbage can't speak for itself. You just see a painting with some colored squares and it's shit, but you put the artist smeared with paint looking serious and you believe there was some actual work involved in the making. Or you put some sophisticated looking yuppie looking at the painting and you subconsciously think it's worth looking at because you're a sophisticated yuppie too.

Contemporary art is a sham, and it's only value in this world today is to be used as stock between museums and collectors. It was made by people too lazy to draw to feel better about themselves and it should be banned from IC just like how knockoff cheap western attempts at anime are banned from /a/

Reminder these people existed 100 years ago and are probably around before your grandfather. We always think of the old masters being not that long ago but they really were, and unless we always call these hacks out their garbage, they will try to pose as the 'new' old masters.

Can confirm, and not for people posting on the internet, it's mostly to stop Chinese companies pumping out thousands of posters. Bootleg art prints have been an issue for a long time.
