For ransomware just read the comment section in torrent sites, and check the uploader's reputation.
And if you can get a linux home server to store all your files in it, so if you get ransomware you only have to reinstall windows and games at most. (Just make sure to avoid SAMBA v1).

I also bought CSP Ex because of the animation features and because I intend to actual work on it. (eromanga and what not)

I don't see myself using photoshop as much, so I can't justify paying for it. For the usual daily casual edits I just use CSP (meme images and what not).

>> No.4381773

I like how people above consider anyone that pays for a legal copy of software a "shill". 120 bucks a year to me is nothing, I'm not scrounging for pennies like 90% of this board because this is just a small hobby of mine and not my final resort. You do you. If you can't afford photoshop, then by all means go ahead and pirate it. Just don't pretend that everyone else is who has more funds than you (which already shows they know what theyre doing). Imagine if everyone believed that getting the free way was the smartest way and only option? How would society work? It wouldn't. Just go about your way and dont criticize others for paying another person for their hard work.

This board as a collective wants to "make it" to some degree. Imagine if everyone who could have your gay shitty furry porn art for free to their liking without ever having to pay for a dime? You surely wouldn't be thinking the same way then.

Personally, I didn't put all my eggs in one basket.

Heads up, YOU CHOOSE WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR MONEY. I know photoshop and have used it for years in photography and also get lightroom with it. We're not all using photoshop for the same reasons moron. Go ahead and buy another company's product, some of us aren't completely fucking penniless and are responsible enough to manage their expenditures on hobbies. Something tells me that this is also your hobby but youre banking on becoming rich from drawing or whatever the fuck it is you do with art programs.

Not worth the time or hassle. Same reason I stopped pirating games around 2008-9 when Steam got good. It's easier to pay for a product than pirate it in most cases. With PS especially there are issues I can't be fucked wasting my time with. Some portable PS things were great a few years ago but I had some performance issues and had some issues when it came to painting so gave up on that route.

PS definitely has its uses for me but I'm also a photographer and it lets me get things done a lot faster in addition to other things CSP can't do because it's a painting program and not a photo manipulation program. CSP is my primary painting app but I still sketch in PS occasionally and will always add post-processing in PS because of its flexibility and speed. There are some hitches in CSP for that which get cumbersome like adjustment layers and previews.
