If I had practiced anything else for as long as I've practiced drawing I'd be a certified expert by now. Yet with drawing I'm still a beg. This is obviously has a genetic component

Talent obviously plays a part, but drawing is also ridiculously difficult to learn. You just have to accept that you could have mastered any other five skills in the time it takes to get sort of okay at drawing. There's a reason that very few people ever learn how to draw even though almost everyone has some interest in it.

Right, when children in kindergarten can already do it without any education.

what did you expect? lmao. we don't all have the exact same brain some will excel at certain skills while others don't. most students in my technical drawing class years ago couldnt even rotate simle geometric forms in their heads and draw them in a different perspective no matter how hard they tried. when i went out of school i was very cocky because i was much better at drawing than the rest of the class without even trying. but then i quickly got humbled at an atelier when i met others much better than me. i really worked hard to catch up but the improvements i got weren't enough. i still draw but technical mastery is no longer my goal. i just wanna paint pretty pictures lol

To become a master carpenter, you seek apprenticeship with a more experienced carpenter, join a craftsmen guild, study advanced books about different woodworking techniques, earn a couple certificates and take classes with other aspiring carpenters.
What you wouldn't do is hammer the same shitty shelf over and over wondering why it doesn't come together as nicely as in the instructional videos.

If you're a dumbass then you aren't fit for qualified labor, be it art or anything else. You're mostly in bad luck because generally people don't have any idea on how to improve at art.

What you wouldn't do is hammer the same shitty shelf over and over wondering why it doesn't come together as nicely as in the instructional videos, yet for some reason people always think this works for drawing.
