am i in to deep or something? whenever I see someone go REEE COOMER, I just don't get it. I understand it's an image of someone sucking some dick, but i'm still looking at the image as i would anything else. am I just jaded or something? sucking dick isn't a style of art. I really like how the image is rendered and all that other gay shit, but sucking dick isn't a style.

Like imagine if akira toriyama drew a picture of two guys sucking on their dads assholes. Whether I agree with two guys sucking butt, I'd still like it because vintage akira toriyama is incredible.

The REEE COOMER shit is mostly spillover from /pol/ NoFap evangelists. Also crab resentment of the artists who make the most money online.

"Coomer" art is a proud tradition. Hell, many of the greats drew coomer art—Wally Wood, Robert Crumb, Steve Ditko, Masamune Shirow (pic) and a ton of mangaka. Hell, even Superman co-creator Joe Shuster drew fetish coomer art.

It just becomes clear that Rei17 is better in every single way in terms of fundies, especially when you notice that there are inconsistencies where awanqi is unsure of where to put things to maintain the Rei17 illusion so they muddle along the shading and it loses the form and they tend to stick to the one palette because they aren't as good as choosing colours and working with values

Toyrima is an anomaly. It seems like all he really cared about was vehicles and writing gag manga.
Then all of a sudden this literal who just gives the action genre a shot and boom he ends up creating one of the most influential pieces of media in modern times and changes the shonen genre and by extension the entire manga industry forever.
It's strange because nothing ever alluded to him caring about martial arts or epic stories before this, it's like DragonBall was his first time humoring the idea of writing an action-adventure narrative and he nailed it on his first try.
The man is a natural genius, that's all you could really say.

Akihiko Yoshida. One of his assignments had him develop a style that's, in his words, not too anime and not too realistic. Can design characters that have a unique flair but not overembellished like Nomura's characters.

I really love his work. Some inspirational artists or styles come and go (the anime phase, the fantasy phase, the korean phase, the sketching phase, the fundies phase, the "what is even my own style" phase) but this guy captured what anime in essence does too and allows him to focus on very clean, fun character designs that maintain the dynamic feel and gesture from sketching and texture, the texture of materials and really snipe the details in the places that matter without getting too lost in them.
Simple in all the right ways but also forgo's the flaws of the usual "simplistic" styles.
I feel like it's way more in common with Alphonse Mucha than anime

Based. I am far from his consistency, cleanness and craftsmanship.
I do feel like he is a bit of a 1-trick pony though. I wish he was more diverse in subject matter and after you've seen 1-3 pieces of him, you kinda know him as this particular thing. He was good at what he did and he did it in his own way without the cost of "muh style" quality, I just think that he stagnated in comfort at the end, either to make dues or because he had other things in life, whatever the case may be.
This doesn't take away from the quality of his work ofcourse, but if you've seen 1 mucha, you've kinda seen them all.

This is something that Yoshida remedied and set the tone for a whole style of the FF art that is still improving by the day and being adopted by artists as an alternative to manga, it set a whole new standard for video-game "manga" style at least.

I really like the opposite as well. Kamitani took the standard typical european-fantasy style and slammed it together into some weird chimera of art styles. It breaks the loomis but it's full of life with the dynamic brushwork of european/russian artists. This guy obviously knows his fundies but he decides to break them in order to have a stronger silhouette or look to characters. The proportions are sometimes comically out of proportion (mostly the arms) and way too dynamic for something that is pretty much lacking perspective (since it's a sidescrolling game), yet because the paint style is wild and dynamic, it lets it blend in to the world without being an eyesore, creating an almost charming effect intentionally leaving in the mistakes instead of overworking and breaking the silhouette.

offtopic but: there is always money and always work. Always create for yourself anon or be within the pits of mediocrity forever.
It takes a lot of self-sacrifice to delve into drawing coomer shit if you aren't into coomer shit yourself, it's a depraved road that may not even lead you to where you want to go and in the end your job (art) will just become equal to that of someone working at a supermarket.

People are living off of drawing graphite portraits, there are also great artists that don't even work for hire and just as a hobby.
So far there are 3 things that lead to success in my eyes:
>Luck; literally pure luck. You get a huge surge of popularity through a well timed tweet that a e-celeb liked and you take your momentum from there.
>Skill; you hone your skill as a storyteller or mechanically advanced artist. Your work speaks for you. People want you regardless because of how good your work is in either concept(concept artists, comic books, artbooks ect.) or fundamentals (portrait painters, freelancers)
>Offer; you offer exactly what the people wanted. The people wanted porn and you gave it to them. The people wanted photobashed sci-fi landscapes of neo-tokyo, you gave it to them. You sacrificed partially what you wanted to do in order to conform to what people want you to do.

but the problem with the third is that the moment you stop doing it; your brand crumbles. If you draw furry porn art with big neon dicks but the moment you stop, these people give no shit about you. You are a provider at that point. The fanbases may even retaliate.

I always like to imagine art as something you kinda just do. There is no choice whether or not to draw something. Inspirations come and go but at the end of the day whether or not I am working in the industry still is irrelevant to me, it's not like I'll magically stop drawing. I'm in this for life and 50 years of drawing furry porn is not something I can see myself doing.

Composition wise he went lazy and just placed the points of interest using rule of thirds.

The background has a lot of crap but regardless of what it is , it should be lower contrast than the foreground and honestly it looks like he went lazy and just overlayed some white screen to give it that misty look.

The foreground overall dark, slightly higher contrast.
