I'll get back to you when I can find the motivation to draw more than the bare minimum for my daily twitter post, anon. Here's the a thing I rendered but it's kinda a dead wip from a long time ago. I do still try to render things sometimes but I haven't found a rendering style that I actually like enough to try to imitate/study and it feels like I'm forcing myself to do it every time I try rendering so I can't get myself to stick with the studies for any decent amount of time. I really just want a style that looks good with noodly sketchy lines (reliance more on design and shapes?) and maybe the bare minimum cell shading

No. You're just so bad that you cant conceive of how simple the technique is. You praise it as if it was the most complex thing ever. It even has linework, no need to use edges. Shadows are simple and low contrast. Anime tier face removes all need to consider form of face. Hair is anime and simple too.

Its basically a simple technique to reprodice somethinf this generic and you can get good at it in a few months if you had the slightest sense of self belief.

If you have a particular artist / style in mind, color picking and understanding the thought process behind a color choice goes long ways. Try to focus on replicating a particular part of a drawing (hair? bobs? creases in a skirt? etc) The rendering journey is about finding your own tricks to render something quicker. Practice a lot, never considered your works as masterpieces. It's better to pump 20 hair studies than try to produce a full illustration where you tried something new for rendering. Focus on understanding how something is done and you'll find your own way of doing things along the way.

At least 3-4 years, mostly likely 5+ years. A lot of things that look simple aren't. Knowing just the right amount to push something artistically takes a lot of practice.

I'm speaking of original composition, you can copy art like that no problem but your work won't be developed like that.

There's nothing wrong with things taking time. I think the worst thing is that the art community generally doesn't tell you how long and painful of a ride it's going to be.
