It could mean several things, because the middle kanji is a word in itself, and so is the other kanjis. Spaces would solve problems like that.

Let's tackle the second argument first. If someone has a child fetish, how could they have a normal, healthy sex life that did not involve children in ay way? All this does is cause frustration, for the desire to molest children is still there, it's simply being repressed. This is not healthy or acceptable.

Now, I have no concrete proof either way about what your everyday Japanese person thinks of pedophilia, but I can tell you that it is something done in secret, not something you can be proud of. This ought to tell you something about how the Japanese really feel about pedophilia. Think of it this way; America produces a lot of BDSM fetish porn, but many Americans think that BDSM is gross. Just because a country produces a lot of a certain kind of porn does not make it acceptable in the eyes of its country's citizens.

Let's summarize: Pedophilia is pedophilia, even if you're "just looking", and Japan still hates you even though you like kiddie porn.

What is your opinion on them, and do you know any?

I study animation in a leading Asian institute, and as the only female anime watcher I get a little lonely sometimes. It also has been very hard for me to find entertaining shows of value to my studies as most that is made is low budget Gonzo type of anime aimed at male engineering students and NEETs.
