Oh, sorry, it's ヴェントラ(ventora), usually written as ベントラ(bentora)。You will rarely see it spelled as ヴェントラ, but the acronym remains. I think this is because Japan doesn't like the ヴェ sound. I'm not quite sure. I was actually wondering where this word came from myself. I can't find it in any dictionary, but it's standard terminology on Japanese scoreboards.

That's one thing with TD's stage design. Enemies can spawn on top of you if you're not careful.

I very much doubt it. People like to post about things they don't know about. Anyways, I could never call someone with those kinds of achievements terrible.
>>10295606
I agree. They can cut themselves and skill will come out instead of blood but they will tell you the most absurd and negative things about themselves. It's even worse when they accuse people of being egotistic for not participating in their orgy of self-loathing; the likes of which can make up 95% of the player base's skill in that particular game. It's like a cult. They are nice to you at first and want you to join their secret club, but then start treating you like trash and get angry when you tell them what they are.
>>10295627
I do not find that level of morosity to be a desirable characteristic in someone who wishes to take a video game seriously. I also do not care about a person's skill level as long as they have a desire to improve. I think that anybody can be as good as they want in anything as long as they are dedicated to it. I also find it very unnatural for a person to work for something and not have the desire to share it with someone else. I have never seen even the most lonesome of people do such a thing. I do wonder how long anybody here would play if it wasn't for the community, which is usually the primary factor in them ever deciding to leave the game in the first place.
>>10295874
The Japanese word for UFO token. It means NUFO.
>>10295997
>I thought TD was supposed to be easy.
I think that you are taking these threads too seriously.
>I'm on hard mode and cannot seem to win this stage 2 boss without a bomb or two because her non spells are difficult as fuck.
I find her spellcards to be the worst. Her nonspells are just gimmicky.
>Stage 3 boss is also pretty hard.
What do you find hard about her? The only thing I can see that could trip someone up is not knowing the trick for the first spell and having to deal with the awkward dodging in the last spell.

6/6 LNBNV. ExNMNB of every game and some LNB runs.
>>10292660
That's common of USB keyboards. It can be switched by using a PS/2 port.
>>10293337
I like every spell in UFO. I also like Kanako's MoF boss fight and Alice in PCB. I'm also very fond of EoSD as a whole but its age sometimes gets in the way.
>>10293358
Everyone can improve.
>>10293443
>I'm terrible (working up from hard to lunatic on TD Sanae, still haven't beaten UFO on normal)
You call that terrible?
>>10293460
Try them all and pick the ones you like best.
>>10293711
That's just how I felt as I saw myself improve. I think I still have a quote of myself saying something like that when I first beat Hard mode.

Sorry for the late response. I had to leave due to an emergency.
>Did it take you long to get used to red switches?
Yes. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but it was at least a few weeks. I had problems similar to yours, but they went away with time. I think it also depends on the person and what they had before. I know several people that got a mechanical keyboard over Christmas are already used to it, while others are still taking their time.
>Worse in games where I have to switch in and out of focus fire very precisely and failing to do so means I've turded the whole stage.
This is probably going to be the hardest thing to get used to. I would just keep playing until it becomes second nature.
>>10283726
>Play Subterranean Animism on Lunatic. It's the best optimised of all the Touhous.
Huh? Why is this? I would argue that it's the worst.

>...But I still couldn't get it after playing for months...
It took me two months to get my first Normal 1cc and I played fairly intensely. Everybody works at their own pace.
>>10282352
Please note that Touhou is one of the few shooting games that give you a deathbomb window, sometimes being higher than 1/4 of a second. I can't think of many games that are this generous.

I think that you let your frustration trick you into believing something that didn't happen. It's a common phenomenon that happens to everyone and can be lessened by getting comfortable with the controls, which can only be done with experience.

I totally didn't expect to get this now, especially with SanaeB. I've been hardly playing SanaeB and focusing on MarisaA mostly. I've gotten pretty far with both Marisa shots before, so I think that it is only a matter of time before I finish my quest.

>I'm pretty sure just PoCing after spell cards is enough to get all the EoSD score extends.
Not everyone does this. I think it's pretty hard not to get the score extends on Lunatic, but it might be different on Normal, especially for an inexperienced player.
>Liberal bombing is good advice if you're trying to get a 1cc. It's bad advice if you're trying to improve. Guess which one most of /jp/ is interested in.
I agree with this. It is one thing to learn how to clear a game and another to get to know it deeply. Both strategies have their uses and come from experience.

This is why I stopped doing LNUFO runs early on and focused on LNBNUFO even though LNBNUFO should technically be harder. It felt more rigid and I felt myself improving faster, even if I wasn't getting as far at first. This is also part of the reason why I am such a fan of NB-play as opposed to some other conditions. I find comfort in the added difficulty and the condition suits me well in my pursuit of self-improvement.

>Is it just me, or are the bullets in EoSD way more random?
I would agree. That's part of why I like EoSD so much.
>Also... anyone have some hints for EoSD?
Try to go for score extends if you can. This doesn't matter so much for Normal mode, but rank control is beneficial for survival. Also, changing shots can make your Patchy fight easier.

>I would just never use a site that requires the audience register to participate.
That's why I held off on switching for so long, but it got so bad that it was either that or no streams at all. It got annoying to fail games due to input lag, and I lost some fairly good runs to it. The audience in these threads doesn't seem to mind too much. I'm sure there are ways to get around Twitch's chat policy, but the demand isn't big enough for me to tamper with it.

>But wouldn't it be better if the game was just naturally difficult and you didn't have to make your own fun?
This is what I'm aiming for in my own game. I want it to be as hard(fun) as LNBNV, but without the handicaps. Even so, there might be issues with this. It's not the same game, and the handicaps are part of what I like about it. I like that there is a standard and challenging way to do everything. I don't see it as making custom challenges as much as trying to improve with the existing one. You can't change the game, but you can change how you play it. I'd have to agree with was some of the previous posters in this thread have said. Making a really hard game has its merits, but it also limits what you can do with it, which also turns some people off. Good game design will focus on being able to play the game the way you want it. Even with UFO, I have not played a lot of challenges that can be done with it. There's just so much to do that I can be occupied for ages.
