The Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry is to test a technology that restricts Internet users' access to Web sites featuring pornographic images of children as early as next fiscal year, according to sources.

The ministry plans to draw up a list of Web sites known to contain graphic images of minors. When a user attempts to access one of these sites, the technology will guide the user to a government site saying access to that particular URL is regulated.

According to the sources, the technology already is in use in 10 countries, including Scandinavian nations. The ministry will ask Internet service providers to take part in the experiment.

The ministry is to incorporate its plan in a draft report formulated by a ministry study group.

The report is due to be released Wednesday.

Kana Satomi, a 16-year-old professional shogi player, on Sunday won the 16th Kurashiki Toka title for female players, defeating the previous holder, Ichiyo Shimizu, 36, for the second time in the three-day match.

Satomi won the game on her 133rd move. By winning two games in a row, she automatically secured the title.

The match was held in Geibunkan hall in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, and organized by the city government and other sponsors.

Satomi, a second-dan professional shogi player, also is a second-year student at a prefectural high school in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture.

She became the third-youngest winner of a title for female shogi players at 16 years and 8 months old, following Naoko Hayashiba, who has since quit professional shogi, and Hiroe Nakai, who is a sixth dan.

Winning the Kurashiki Toka title means Satomi is eligible to be among six pairs of players in the first-round matches of the 22nd Ryuo-sen title competition to be hosted shortly by The Yomiuri Shimbun.

Satomi, who first learned shogi from her father, Akira, 47, when she was 6, will be the youngest female shogi player to take part in the Ryuo-sen contest.

When she was 9, Satomi asked a number of professional shogi players, including meijin title-holder Yoshiharu Habu, at an event held in Izumo, how she could become a stronger player.

Satomi turned professional at 12 and is nicknamed "Izumo-no-Inazuma (the Izumo thunderbolt)" for her aggressive style of playing.

She spends much of her time traveling from one location to another, using night buses and trains to attend various shogi event with her mother, Harumi, 47.

At a press conference after Sunday's match, Satomi said: "I was able to enjoy the matches, and I hope to become a female meijin title-holder in the future."

However, she also touched on her student life by saying, "My school tests start on Tuesday, so I've got to study hard."
