There's some really irony for you. One post was plenty, anon-san.

Why are you so upset about the mere mention of another group anyway? Especially when I was specifically asking how H!P fans feel about them.

Have I wronged you in the past and you just can't contain your anger upon seeing this trip? If so, I apologise and hope we can be BFFs from now on. Alternatively, you could write another bunch of angry replies to me which you seem to think are somehow more on topic than actual discussion about how H!P fans feel about a new idol group.

>I thought idols weren't supposed to be about the music?

Wait, really? Uh, idols have never been about the music. It's always been and always will be about the girls themselves. I'm not buying hundreds of photocards, buying 10 singles at a time for handshake events, emptying my wallet into the pockets of idol producers in general, and travelling to the other side of the world to meet them just because I like their music.

>maybe I just don't understand the concept of idols well enough

No offence but yeah. That seems about right. Some of the most hardcore fans out there don't even listen to the music all that much but will buy hundreds of singles all the same just to support the girl he loves. Idolism is nothing so profane and simple as just liking music. Pure wota love is sacred love expressed through living off instant ramen so that you can support your oshimen by buying all of her merchandise and singles. It is a love like that of Dante for Beatrice, a love from afar, an unrequited love that one is nonetheless satisfied with so long as she is happy. We affirm this love through the handshake ritual in which the sweat upon the idol's hand is transubstantiated into pure love that enters the idol fan through his palms and makes him feel that it has all been worth it for the fleeting moment in which they shake hands and he tells her how he feels about her. This, my newfriend friend, is what idols are all about. Music is but a bonus on top of all this.

This is generally how I feel about them. I'll be in Japan around April and I really have to see one of these shows in person just to experience the raw craziness of it all that I've been told about.

>>11644110
Perhaps you're right. I suppose how much of an effect they'll have on the industry as a whole will depend on how popular they become. If you take AKB48 for example, they pretty much made the「会いにいけるアイドル」model standard among all idol groups, even ones who existed before them, with most striving to incorporate some or a lot of that into their schedule. However, if they hadn't become popular, this wouldn't have become a standard thing among groups and, even worse, we wouldn't have all these new idol groups and a revival in popularity for H!P and so on.

It's all down to how much influence BiS have on the industry in the end. There's a chance they can change things permanently and in a big way if they do become popular and other groups begin to follow suit. We'll just have to wait and see.

>>11644325
I could never get into proudly lewd groups myself, not even tamer stuff like SDN48, although I've started to like some of their music in retrospect.

However, I don't see BiS as being lewd so much as just crazy and, at the risk of sounding like a dumb art snob or something, avant-garde. They do what they want and that's pretty cool.

Also, for a taste of some of the crazier parts of their shows, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rukQPyZrV8w

Also, while I'm here, I might as well ask something I've been wondering about.

What do H!P fans think of Brandnew idol Society or BiS? My fellow AKBwota tend to be split right down the middle and I'm wondering if you're the same.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z29odV8pFq0

Essentially BiS are idols with lots of creative control who are known for holding 24 hour long concerts that often devolve into sheer insanity. Their PVs are similarly insane sometimes, ranging from ordinary idol fare in the form of graduation songs such as "hitoribochi", to femdom and pissing milk from faces on their crotches in "Mura Mura".

What do you guys think of this? With such creative control and valued input in a group filled with girls who are in many ways "different" from the traditional Japanese schoolgirl image, they are certainly taking the idol industry in a brand new direction but is it a good or bad one? Are they just an indie band using the idol name to attract a certain type of fan and cause controversy? My dearest Harowota kameraden, what do you think of these girls?

Someday, when I become Producer-san in real life, Ambrosia made with 100% idol milk would be sold in stores worldwide.

Of course, it will be made from the same stuff as the cheese, specifically idol sweat and so on, rather than idol breast milk because that would just be disgusting!

How can you say she's your oshimen if you won't even eat her cheese?

Also, I totally would. I would subsist entirely on idol cheese given the opportunity. It is the closest humanity will ever come to creating ambrosia, the food of the gods.

I can definitely relate. If Suuchan weren't still around, I would at most be a casual fan of HKT48 these days, with my interest in AKB having slowly dwindled as the long term members have graduated.

Other than that, I'll also be somewhat into Momoclo and HKT but not to a serious extent although I must admit that I'm starting to get seriously into BiS so maybe my time as an idol fan won't end altogether. I'll need something to sink all that left over time and money into after all. I'll be in Japan in around April or so and there's no way I can do this and not attend one of their apparently insane shows that sometimes run for 24 hours. I've been told that I should set aside a lot of time, wear cheap clothes I don't mind getting dirty, and not actually expect anything in particular. It sounds unlike any idol concert I've ever seen.

I was a big fan of Momoclo in their pre-Z days and largely fell away from them once Akari, who had over time become my favourite member, graduated.

As for the sheer size of the groups being kind of daunting, I can definitely understand your feelings in that regard. I got into AKB48 back in 2008 and thought they were too big then never mind now. If I were to first discover them today, I would probably feel the same way about them as you do if I hadn't already become a fan by now.

The thing is, as a long term fan of AKB48, I can tell you that rather than feeling alienated by the huge amount of girls in the groups, I actually feel more attached to my favourite member than I ever have to any other idol. Whereas in the past I would focus primarily on my favourite member but still have a huge amount of loyalty towards the group as a whole, these days I think of myself more as a "Sumire fan" than an "AKB48 fan" and honestly feel like I'll stop supporting the group the day she leaves.

This makes the whole idol experience more personal to me and it's kind of liberating in a way. I would say that whether you should get into AKB48 or not depends on whether you're the type of person who cares about groups and their dynamics or if you're more concerned with the individual girls themselves. The focus on individual idols rather than groups is so strong that both AKB48 members and most fans actually look down on fans who can't pick a single girl to support over all others. If you ever want to see an angry idol, I recommend that you tell an AKB girl at a handshake event that she is your "third favourite" or something to that effect.

Perfume are mainstream pop and aren't even slightly "otaku".

If you want accessible pop music with a lot of crossover into "otaku" culture, there's obviously AKB48 and their sister groups, but I would also recommend less mainstream groups like Afilia Saga East, Denpagumi, Momoiro Clover Z, Fudanjuku and BiS. Dig even deeper and you'll find denpa artists such as Toromi and the like who are far more "otaku" but far less accessible.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWvcqTULQF4

Surely you can see how obviously this song panders to "otaku" in comparison to the average Perfume song?

I love to see a game along the lines of King of Dragon Pass set in Gensokyo.

You could perhaps play as the leader of the human village and struggle to survive in a world of dangerous magic and man-eating youkai.

Idols these days are gimmicky by their very nature.

The market is more than a little bit oversaturated after all so it's only natural. I have no problem with gimmicks when I like the music and the girls. These things are all that matter to me where any idol group is concerned.

>> No.11599067 [View]

>>11599063
Perhaps to some extent? They're quite open and proud of their idol status so it's not like they're trying to hide that or anything. It's just yet another spin on the idol concept, much like Denpagumi are denpa idols and BABYMETAL are metal idols, BiS are avante-garde idols and, more specifically, noise idols as of late.

You must admit, you're at least slightly intrigued by an idol group that does concerts in a small room of fans that lasts 24 hours, right?

>> No.11599058 [View]

Oho, a Denpagumi thread on /jp/ now? How long have these been around?

I'm a fairly casual fan and I've been meaning to get more into them along with Afilia Saga and all that jazz.

On a slightly related note, are there any BiS* fans around here? Probably far too soon for a thread, I assume, but I'm curious to see if there's any interest right now.

Yes. Does this mean I don't have to fuck off now?

I personally feel that things like uniforms along with the teaching of manners and basic elocution lead to a student becoming a better person in the end. For example, look at how you ended your sentence in "fuck off". I would not have done that because I am not "straight outta Compton".

>> No.11373431 [View]

I'm constantly amazed at how lax American high schools are in terms of dress and decorum. It's like the entire country is a ghetto these days judging from the schools. Are Americans even aware that most schools in other countries have mandatory uniforms and dress codes? I liked my tie and blazer and feel like I was better off seeing no sagging pants during my time in education.

Does OP's post mean that universities are just as ghetto as American high schools? I mean, we didn't have to wear uniforms in mine, but we did have to be formal and not walk around with drawings on us. At the very least. No one has warned this guy that he could get in trouble for what he's doing so am I to assume that this is normal behaviour there?
