audiophiles, a little help please

my senns 650 cable break on me.
what happens is the L cable (after the Y) transmits nothing while the R is perfectly okay
switching the L and R heads successfully reverses the problem,
so it is not the actual cans that are broken
however, tilting my head to the right or holding L cable up make the transmission properly

what could cause this and can it be repaired?
massaging the cable does nothing, cleaning the head does nothing
it is the "default" 650 cable so maybe it is time for a better replacement? but if can be fix..
