Necromancy is not strong but it is fun. On the flip side, talk team is strong but not fun. Solo anything bores me too, so I know where you're coming from. You also might be underestimating how much Martial Arts relies on gear-- it's only not gear reliant when compared to conventional weapons. Compared to spells, rods, necromancy, talk, or basically anything else besides other weapons, it has a lot more rare enchantments that it's always hungry for. Extra attack, vorpal, interlocking/proximity.

My suggestion is necromancer. If you want a cute wife you can marry a zombie queen, who will buff your spooks for you.
