My opinion of them is not neutral. It is negative. I would go for almost any other MG.
This is INCLUDING Matango because at least with a matango I because a mindless mushroom zombie instead a a brainwashed one.
I suppose it is the fact that matangos are passive in their awfullness where as Mindflayers are sadistically active. I mean even if she said to me that she would never mess with my brain can I really trust her not to? Ever? What if she already has?
Even for small stuff, such as maybe one day we get into an argument about where to eat, she could just erase that entire thing and go with my choice in the end, but it's still important to my psychological well being that I know we had that fight. I mean, could you honestly say that realistically no one would do that? Perhaps she would entirely change everything about me, but even small stuff adds up. A little disagreement gone from here, a little not quite understanding gone from there, and the entire relationship is built upon false ideals.
So that's why I don't like Mindflayers. Too many trust issues for someone with that kind of power. Even mother fucking Professor X couldn't resist the temptation of such powers.
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
