I think it's fine if ZUN collabs with people on different projects and fan games. If it's a gacha or derivative of then so be it. I also think it's admirable that Toby managed to get a foot into the Japanese music and doujin scene, he's doing something right over whatever that hack Andrew Hussie is doing. If they're having fun then what difference does it make?
Touhou isn't going to die just because ZUN met with a western creator. Touhou isn't going to die because he collabed with a gacha. It's not the end of the world if a background accessory character has a glimmer of hope of being in a mainline game.

Why are people so concerned with the canon of Touhou? Why can't you just accept that each character has two major interpretations, one of them being canon the other being fanon?
Is it really that bad? I have always accepted both without an issue. Both can be entertaining.
