While I do sympathize with the whole being gay thing ad recognize that coming out can be considered brave...
I find that the idea that people use that fact to try and get attention from others is obnoxious and contradictory in itself.
Even more so now that people laud homosexuality as being brave and unique while seeing heterosex as creepy and rapey.
