Anyone have any experience with drawing rooms and overall house plans? What exactly do you do?

Should I just find an existing house and base it off of that? It kind of only hit me that while I could draw random rooms the flow would be all weird.

I need to know because I am flakey and scattered brain and can't commit to one project. Although this is my original idea which comes with several benefits
