I have always taken it to be exaggerations on the part of mamono. Like, maybe there's some light bruising and soreness IRL, but nothing severe or dangerous, and mostly only early in a relationship before the couple really understands each other's limits (and before the husband incubizes).

BUT. I do agree it tends to be kind of overplayed as a joke.

ALSO--IRL my mom broke her pelvis a while back (she's old; it can happen) and it is actually a *severe* injury that takes many months to recover from (and you likely will never get back to 100%). No mamono would EVER do that to their mate--it's unconscionable. So, that may color my perspective--I know for sure it's outside the lines for what manono would do from having seen it.

PS--Here's an Ushi. She would threaten your pelvis, but she won't actually hurt it. She needs it! For sex.
