I feel EOPs don't really appreciate how insane is the non-phonemic orthography English uses. When written, majority of letters correspond to multiple sounds and you only really know how to spell it properly if you know the word itself. It's much less of a filter than kanji but it's still one of those language oddities that have virtually zero practical use while making things tougher to learn.

It's probably the case, but you can see she reacted when alcoholism was brought up and turned towards the chat, then picked out a comment that caught her eye. Which just happens to be fucking perfect if you know the context.
