Depending on technique I can insult hard boilers any number of ways but for the sake of argument I'll say that I'm insulting someone who boils eggs directly from the fridge for 10 minutes on the stove in an average aluminum pot. Number one, and the most obvious reason to not hardboil eggs is the texture. Egg whites take on the classic rubber consistency and the yolks become moist chalk. Things get worse if you try to peel them, since water boils at 100C and can't get higher than that, you're only cooking the gg at 100C or 212F, which is actually not really hot enough to temperature shock the outer membrane for clean peeling. Things get even worse when you try to store the hardboiled eggs. The yolks dry out more with time since the fats solidify even harder in the fridge, meaning you end up with something even worse than what you started with. Marinating them is a waste of effort cause anything with salt will turn the already rubbery whites into actual rubber. Hardboiled eggs also have the fewest number of uses. No one likes egg salad so don't even bother listing that. You can't effectively spread them on toast cause there's nothing spreadable about their consistency, you can't crack open the shell and spoon it out cause it's too hard to spoon, you can barely use them in a salad because the yolks will turn to powder after a bit of exposure to the air, and eating them plain is simply less flavorful than a medium boil. It's the most sub optimal method of preparing an egg that exists, and what makes it worse is that all it's mainstream uses were literally manufactured as marketing by corporate egg boilers who can't control their egg cooking or by shitty home chefs trying to mask the fact that they fucked up one of the most basic foods imaginable. Out of all the things you can do with an egg, choosing to hardboil it is not only the most ignorant thing to do, it's the most cowardly one. Hardboiling an egg is equivalent to pissing your pants because you think the bathroom is scary at night, or cooking steak well done to be safe from raw meat bacteria. People who hardboil eggs have weak wills and no courage, no drive to do better, they're the people you met who said "Cs get degrees" and drive a 2003 honda civic their uncle gave them after he retired. Hardboiling an egg is telling the world that you've given up on yourself and your life, you do not desire improvment, you're content in your low standard of living. Hardboiling an egg is no different from parading through society with a massive sign taped to your back that says "I don't care, kill me now." You should strive for something better, a more fulfilling existence than the bare minimum, the least amount of effort for the barely functional result. Hardboiling an egg is an admission of defeat. Learn to do better you fucking caveman, you can live above the standard of hardboiled egg. You can medium boil one, soft boil one, and when the sun shines into your mind again at least you'll know you worked for it. You can only go up from there, learn to properly scramble some eggs, sous vide an egg, maybe even roll a classic french omelet. The world could be your oyster if only you gave enough of a shit to try harder than hardboiled egg.
