The political correctness issue is just one symptom of what's happening. I feel like society is starting to crack down again on non-conformists. The rebellious waves of the 60s and 70s were so huge and came so fast that the way the world worked had no choice but to change to fit the new ways of thinking. Now the conformists are regaining lost ground. Join the mob or be crushed under it.

Suddenly little shit like growing out your hair and getting tattoos is a big deal again because everyone's so desperate for jobs. Individuality is suffering because it's so easy to directly compare people. People who conform and shame those who don't are often rewarded with public praise and even financial success. You can't share your art or music if it's not what advertisers want their products associated with. Shit's scary.
