See, my favorite part of monster girls has always been how they aren't human. Some moreso than others, but they're always alien if not incomprehensible to some degree.

Kitsune are in my favorite MGs because they are effectively the meeting ground between the "bestial" nature of canid MGs and high-class demeanor.
It makes them very captivating.

I like what >>15553023 said, If we consider how much ZUN loves old folklore-related stories we can perfectly assume that Yukari made Ran from the lifeless corpse of a Nine-tailed fox instead of stealing a kid and install a parasyte in it, also like ZUN said we can perfectly think that Ran is just Ran and that there's no such a thing as a trapped soul which's body is being manipulated.
