All the jokes aside, there was one time in my life where, for about a year, I made a six mile commute by foot carrying about 30kg of crap with me in gym bags. Had to do that 5 times a week, more or less every week. It's not much weight by itself, but when you have to carry that stuff with you at the peak of summer or winter, through shitty weather, it adds up.
I guess I got kind of fit, but I felt like death doing it so much.
