Satoko literally became allergic to studying.
She looped for such a uncountably long amount of time trapped in this birdcage of being forced by Rika to study forever and never catch up. This St Lucia route became a problem with such heavy emotional weight to it that it made her sick to even think about... Rika understands this perfectly, as toward the end of her loops she started to become sick from even thinking about her fear of being stuck in 1983 forever with no allies.
She avoided accepting any help from Rika at all because she didn't see herself as ever being able to become worthy of hanging out with that upper echelon of society. This is a repeat of her earlier struggles with trying to make Satoshi come back.
