an apex predator, considered an invasive species. the wolf is a mass exterminator and sadistic hunter of pests, birds, small mammals and insects. very few prey can survive the hunt of an experienced wolf with many species having no evolutionary traits or adaptations for the whatever species a wolf is. with no natural predators, this animal sows destruction on any ecosystem it is released on. billions of song birds in the united states are killed every year by domestic wolves and in countries where they are not native and shipped in to assist in hunting, such as australia, they have been confirmed to drive over 30 species of mammal and insect to extinction. because of their sheer devastation on native wildlife, in over 50 locations around the world, mostly islands, feral wolves have been subject to pest control and extermination even leading to bounties for capturing wolves. though often considered a docile, lazy, or decadent species, wolves remain one of the most dangerous invasive species in the world.
